washing your car in car wash place, drive out, enjoy frozen key slots....

To be honest, i'd rather enjoy frozen key slots than a bubble of rust marinading under my fender.

CanadaGoose 12-17-2008 06:24 PM

Compressed air blown around the door seals, trunk, windows, and if you think you got some into the keyholes, there too will prevent the problem

twitchyzero 12-17-2008 06:50 PM

just wash it when the snow melts...that way you can keept the salt on your car from eating away your paint

CanadaGoose 12-17-2008 07:14 PM

Yeah, do your car a HUGE favor and borrow a pressure washer, or go to a good wand wash and blast out the wheel wells, and undercarriage periodically

Yup. I agree 100%

Letting the car sit there with all that salt on it is much better.

anti-vip 12-18-2008 10:13 AM

^^^^^^ let it sit with all that salt on..its gonna make the car tastier mmmmm yyyuuummmmyyyyyy...salt ftw..lol

MarkyMark 12-18-2008 11:21 AM

If you leave your car out in the cold the salt isnt going to do as much as the people who bring it into a warm garage at night, which is whats going to help the salt do its work faster.

Drift_Monkey 12-18-2008 11:28 AM

I've seen a car wash service in the undergorund parking at the Oakridge Centre.

Anybody go there before?

I haven;t wash my car since the summer as well lol

shenmecar 12-18-2008 11:46 AM

its best to leave it as it is until winter is gone, unless u plan to wash ur car and leave it in ur garage for the next couple of months, once u leave the car wash place and drive home, it will be all dirty again.

anybody have a good idea how to wash the undercarriage of the car without having to shoot ur hose at it blindly? i dont have a jack or anything......

the esso touchless carwash at the corner of w.broadway and burrard was open yesterday and today... i have to wash the car because i park on the street and it's covered with all the salt spray, sand and other crap thrown by passing cars. i'm too scared to use my snow brush now because i'm certain i'll scratch and ruin the paint :(

someone taught me that once you come out of the carwash place, spray wd40 or similar into the keyholes to keep moisture from freezing up in them. also using silicone spray lube on the door seals to keep the doors from freezing up in their jambs.

bikerx 12-18-2008 01:30 PM

^^ instead of spraying your doors.. why not just dry them????? especially with those who have frameless windows....

I feel you mean, its painful brushing off a black car and doing a good job of it without scratching the paint

Drift_Monkey 12-18-2008 04:07 PM

Heres are good idea.....

PLASTIC WRAP YOUR ENTIRE CAR ( after your car is clean and dry ) =).

Can someone post pics after they are done ?

TigerSY 12-18-2008 04:20 PM

Why is this?

1983 Z28 12-18-2008 05:13 PM

Keeping the car outside keeps the water in ice form.

Bringing it in reduces the ice to water, which makes that nice salt water mix that rusts shit.

basically i'm just looking for the pressure washer to get all the salt off..

does the garden city / alexandra place act as a " wand wash " place to do this?

anyone know the details on it? eg. cost?

This is what I do too.
Basically just go there every week and use the pressure washer to get some dirt/salt off.

Its a self-serve wash, you just drive into the bay and go up to the machine to get tokens... $2 for 2 tokens (4 mins).
