How to keep car clean in winter?

Are the touchless car wash at gas stations still open?

hk20000 12-16-2008 08:29 PM

you shouldn't wash your car during winter no matter what. Car wash stations are closed too. You'll make an icerink for other road users and that's gonna be trouble.

washing your car in car wash place, drive out, enjoy frozen key slots....

Just head over to those "Hand car wash specialist", there's a few around Metro Vancouver. Just tell them to tape up your Key locks before you let them wash it.

what is the point of washing it when its going to get dirty again the next day? Theres going to be more snow coming, and that means your car will be full of salt again.

LanEvoMR 12-16-2008 09:24 PM

because i haven't washed my car since summer and it is one dirty mofo rite now

i saw this cool looking car washing place on terminal street. not sure what the name is, but it takes up a lot of property and looks really cool. if you're going north on main street, turn right onto terminal and keep going past main street adult ed by a block or two. you should see the car washing place to your right. if you went on the bridge or end up on home depot, you've gone too far

its called shine auto wash ..i dont think its competed yet. but does look pretty high tech.

underground car parking wash bay ftw.

if you havent sealed and waxed it for winter, do that.

now all it takes is a rinse after a wet day.

Harvey Specter 12-16-2008 09:45 PM

I use the no rinse soap to clean my car.

Expresso 12-17-2008 09:40 AM

The automated car wash I goto opens year round. I usually head there once the snow melts to wash the salt off and stuff.

Suprarz666 12-17-2008 10:02 AM

That's BS. You think the rest of Canada doesn't wash their vehicles for 6 months?

Off the coast, touchless car washes are open to -20 in most places. Have no trouble with frozen doors or keys, well nothing more then normal.

Optimum No rinse ftmfw

Seriously. I washed my car the other day in my garage
However dont bother washing it now, just keep an eye on weather forecasts

Wash when we get another streak of sun

valent|n0 12-17-2008 11:12 AM

I live in apartment building
there is wash area , I am afraid someone not like it if I wash during cold days, and complain about frozen water if there any..
what do you do usually?
do water really freeze in the underground parking?

Zyzz 12-17-2008 11:22 AM

touchless car wash water are really unhealthy to your cars... i suggest you guys dont use it too often

Alatar 12-17-2008 12:32 PM

Best way to keep your car clean in the winter, hands down. Keep it in the garage.

tiger_handheld 12-17-2008 02:23 PM

hey i havnt washed my car since summer either .....

there's a hand car wash joint in the metro parking lot ... i might take it there. ... does a good job.. too

91civicZC 12-17-2008 02:40 PM

I wash mine at the Wand wash type places over the winter every two weeks or so, just trying to keep al the salt and crap from rusting the ol wagon to bits. Its really not so much to keep it clean, more to wash out all the salt and shit from the wheel wells and the underbody.

generally i spray the crap out ofthe wells and lower body with the soap spray, then just rinse it.

Why not wait til next summer to wash it? You obviously don't give a damn about your paint...

Wykydtron 12-17-2008 04:23 PM

I work at a car dealership so I have an indoor wash bay. I pull in, close door, wash car, then dry it off.

Volvo-brickster 12-17-2008 04:59 PM

wash it on your neighbors driveway

woozzle 12-17-2008 05:12 PM

the best way to keep car clean in the winter is to not drive it at all
