Despite fracturing five vertebrae in his last failed attempt at this stunt, Rhys Millen has announced that he will once again be performing the exceedingly dangerous backflip in a truck on New Year's Eve

I really hope that things has either 1) A whole lot of torque and grip or 2) Some sort of hydraulic system....

Wow, that was one terrible first attempt. Landing directly upside down from like 20 feet high onto concrete. Some major miscalculations there...

The clip right at the very end looked pretty promising though...

Funny that I was just thinking about whether a monster truck could possibly do a backflip or not. I see for this stunt, they need a special ramp which the tip gives way after the front wheels hit it so that the rear can continue with forward momentum instead of upwards.

u'd think just as a precaution they'd just put some padding everywhere not just like 25ft after the jump on something that risky LoL. Apparently Redbull is skimping in these tough economic times :p

The stunt will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN HD on New Year's Eve at 11:00 PM/ET and 8:00 PM/PT along with Robbie Maddison's attempt at a 96 foot vertical jump with a dirt bike.

Holy shit! I've been about 30 feet up before, I can't imagine being 3 times that height.

Made it around, but didn't stick it... not as jaw dropping as the motorcycle jump though.

The "Life & Death Risk" factor wasn't that great, what with the truck + roll cage + harness/seatbelt and all. Robbie Madison's stunt was pure balls. One slight mistake both going up or down and the guy has no safety anything whatsoever. :eek:
