I don't remember seeing that.

Piracy is killing it. They went from a Metro, Chinatown and Richmond store to only 1 Richmond store (downsized store as well).

There use to be two shops that sold legit stuff near T&T metro but those shops folded as well.

I saw it! Good movie! Needs subtitles since there are Mainlander and Japanese fighters. If you don't know Canto/Mandarin/Japanese your not going to understand everything.

Flashpoint was a decent guy flick, no plot whatsoever. Just a whole lotta masculinity flexing and some Dragonball style ass kicking! (Bones are harder than bricks apparently )

Spoiler!

Actually it's pretty hard to differentiate haha some of the fakes are REALLY good. Full packaging, well-done printing on the DVD, some even come with photo cards inside!

lol please, i like how you are trying to defend the Japanese while using a derogatory term for them. IMO the film is not "Anti Japanese" its a reasonable historical re-telling of what happened in China during the 2nd Sino-Japanese war/WW2 era. If you think they're being portrayed in-accurately go read up on the long list of Japanese war crimes during this period.

On a less serious note. One of the better HK films I've seen in a long time, but I'm suspecting the sequel will blow chunks (If they make one).

I think they should make that guy that fought him in SPL (in the alley with knife and stick) the next Bruce Lee in the sequel, whatever his name is, he was a good fighter too and young.

jap isnt derogatory, although a lot of asians feel it is but i dont care ;p

thats like saying calling someone from britain a brit is derogatory, or a canadian a canuck or a saudi arabian an arab

and why your bringing up war crimes blahblahblah blah i have no clue... it doesn't take away from the fact its a "WE'RE CHINESE, ROAR!! FUCK YOU JAPANESE!" im just calling it what it is, nothing more/less.

I'm bringing it up because you're claiming the film is attacking the Japanese, when it's more of a biography about the life of Yip Man during the WW2 Era. Like i said before its a somewhat accurate account of what happened during that time, and ok yeah let's just say that it is a "WE'RE CHINESE, ROAR!! FUCK YOU JAPANESE!" film. Even then it's not attacking the Japanese culture in anyway because thats what happened during the war. If you're saying this movie an 'anti-jap' film then by the same measure you could call valkyrie an anti-german film.

and I brought up the war crimes because you were saying something along the lines of the Japanese being portrayed as evil etc. and you didn't like that. Well guess what, they WERE the ones doing the raping, killing, stealing during this time period. If its a historical re-enactment of the war then yeaa they're gona be a portrayed as evil and yes the people they kill/steal/rape will be a TAD pissed off that they're doing that.

and FYI just because you don't feel a term is offensive to people doesn't mean that its not offensive.

dude quit bullshitting.... or learn to read.... your adding shit into "typical 'anti jap' film" it almost makes you wonder what your angle is.... well not really.. thats pretty obvious

and just because some ppl find a word to be offensive means nothing when the word isn't offensive... thats like saying i feel offensive to the word Dog so you all better stop saying it! roaar

I can read just fine, thanks. You're contradicting yourself here, you say it isnt derogatory then u say a lot of people think it is offensive. And yea if a LARGE group of people think its offensive... it sorta is. What gives you the sole right to decide what is offensive and what isn't?

What you're doing is more like "I can say nigga all i want cause i don't think its offensive at all to black people."

and my angle? my angle is trying to defend a film from you saying its 'anti-jap'. I've offended no one, and I've been using facts to back my shit up. You're the only one spouting slurs and 'bull shitting' here.

But whatever, I'll drop it. Its a movie thread, and i doubt you can wrap your brain around what my point is anyways.

no idea why one of my post didn't who up
this movie was BASED on a real character. Not all the events happened.

this movie made him look like a national hero, which he is so not. He was the master of bruce Lee and that was it. He did start Wing Chun.

Jet Li's old movie (similar story line) that he was a real national hero.
