NinjaAceYork 12-31-2008 12:01 PM

They're too busy collecting tax payers money for other dumb unimportant things like building another stadium just for the olympics..

But they're still collecting money

Anjew 12-31-2008 12:30 PM

oak st bridge is in shitty condition as well

03aspec 12-31-2008 12:33 PM

because all the city workers are unionized, need i say more?

JesseBlue 12-31-2008 12:50 PM

lets just blame icbc and translink..haha

Anjew 12-31-2008 01:01 PM

you know they end up losing more money from their insurance coverage from all the vehicles being damaged from accidents on the roads caused by unplowed snow, unfixed pot holes, flooded areas etc....

True that bro, I here ya.. My street is still white as a blanket.. :whine:

Nvasion 12-31-2008 02:58 PM

retarded how after so many days of snow sitting there they still dont plow it.

DK33 12-31-2008 03:14 PM

Actually when I was getting off work like an hour and a half ago they were doing patching up work on the side heading towards new west. Man was traffic bad going out of surrey,

Harvey Specter 12-31-2008 03:39 PM

It's pretty fucking sad seeing how the Olympics are almost a year away and we can even plow the streets properly.

Noir 01-01-2009 11:30 AM

I think they're not repairing it as they're planning to replace it with a brand new bridge. A Tolled bridge IIRC.

falcon 01-01-2009 02:18 PM

and a new bridge is going to pop up in the next week? you're a dumbass.

haha x2

as for the guy who said something about the unionized workers....what the hell does that have to do with anything??

the more threads i read on this site the more it scares me about the people living in the GVRD

stop bitching about the roads, buy some snow tires like everyone else, and learn to drive

as for the craters on the roads, ya those are BS, but they fix them now then they get beat up again in the coming months from more snow and plows

i went over to scott road yesterday from NW and the pattulo has some pretty bad sections...it's bad in the summer but that's beside the point

i got lucky as they were fixing it in the direction towards new west, then when i was coming back to new west they had stopped traffic going into surrey....the line up was all the way back to 6th ave

Raid3n 01-01-2009 03:28 PM

it matters because unionized workers wont work on a stat holiday without being paid 2.5-3x their regular pay. and the employers don't want to pay out that much so they give the majority of the employees the day off and refuse to call them in.

Simple question from OP: "Why aren't they doing anything about Pattullo Bridge?" Simple answer to OP: I recall that they're trying to do something much more major than your touch-up repairs. I don't fucking control the timeline of it. Dumbass.

He was referring to the potholes from the snow, not the overall degradation of the bridge. who's the dumbass now? :D

Right, because the OP clearly refers to only snow specific damages. Here's the OP's original message:

Retard.

I think we all know that when people talk about Patullo, we're talking about how it's been long overdue to be updated. And Potholes is not even close to being the main issue for updates. People have been asking to fuckin' widen that bridge for years. Of course, this only apparent to people who do not lack common sense. Snow induced potholes. Pffft. How fuckin short sighted are you?

impactX 01-01-2009 04:14 PM

Refrain yourselves from namecalling from this point on.

falcon 01-01-2009 04:15 PM

While trying to prove you're point, you quoted something that defeats your argument.

and, YES... we all know the bridge is in dire need of upgrading or replacement. but that's not what this thread is about.

;)

Since you're the big genius here, show me how they can widen the bridge? Just curious how you would get around this little obstacle called the main skeleton of the bridge.

And have you never heard of potholes being caused by snowy weather? It's very common.

Wow. So full of fail, I am out of word.

If you have any iota of reading comprehension in you, you will realize that the main complaint of the OPs post was that he was under the impression that nothing is being done regarding Patullo Bridge, not what the fucking snow is doing to the bridge. So a new bridge is very much what this thread is about.

Pick up some "Hooked on Phonics" and re-read below:

No I can't show you how they widen the bridge. But there will be engineers and architects who will do that for Translink. And potholes are just not caused by snowy weather. If your brain had anymore capacity, you would realize that the potholes exist because of many other factors as well such as gradual weathering and vehicular abuse to name a few. Factors that exist all year round in comparison the 2 weeks of snow you're complaining about.

LemonH2O 01-01-2009 04:56 PM

car almost bottomed out on the pattulo going through this horrid patch of huge pot hole after another

iEatClams 01-01-2009 05:06 PM

Is there anything us Civilians can do to get the government to fucking smarten up when it comes to translink/bridges, infrastructure?

I mean, twinning the port mann: they shoulda have started that years ago. Anyone living in surrey, langley, abbortsford knows how bad that bridge is.

Not to mention that patullo bridge needs to be twinned as well. I know they are doing studies on this and have came up with proposals. But it's clear there needs to be another bridge into new west as well.

When olympics come, people are gonna see what crappy infrastructure planning we have, and how bad translink is!
