i've got no problem with additional fees for using plastic bags. i always have a re-usable in my car just in case and i have 2 more at home. i always plan my grocery shopping trips anyway so i'll have the bags on me and they fit in my jacket pocket also.

This bag tax is bullshit. I reuse my bags in and around my house like millions of ppl do already. We are already reducing the amount of garbage bags we buy, by reusing the bags we receive from the grocery store. Even the bags I receive from shopping at the mall are used as garbage bags in my house.
Why don't they just make the bags five fucking dollars each? Then nobody would use the bags anymore and the earth will give us a pack on the back.
Even if you don't use these bags as garbage bags around your house, I thought they were recyclable? I never knew there was a surplus of plastic recyclables. How is that even possible? I thought they melt that shit down and create new plastic bags and other plastic containers and such.

i use the cloth bags that you can buy now at the stores you can fit alot more in them and their handles never break. and for garbage bags i just use bio degradable garbage bags they are better for the environment

I think it's balls. Most people I know use them for garbage bags, and if they're biodegradable, then you've got somewhat earth friendly garbage bags. If we all start using Glad bags or whatever, and they don't break down, then we're just shifting the garbage problem around aren't we?

A big problem with the reuseable cloth bags are people like to use this as there basket and take off with out paying. And it's hard to tell if someone has paid or not

you know how superstore has those self-express lanes?
how do they know how much to charge you for each bag you're going to take?
I mean, I could just be buying less than 5 items, and walk away w/ more than one plastic bag for free, right?

I was just sayin'!
and it's not like I take more than I need.
But in all honesty, if you go to a cashier, you tell him/her how many bags you need, or vice versa, and then they charge you.
But in the self-express checkout, you know, you're not paying for your bags!
