It is IMPOSSIBLE to learn all the topics that girls are interested in. It is POSSIBLE however, to be really good at the TOPICS you are good at and talk to EVERY girl out there.

The key to conversations is being able to talk about a topic that is appropriate to the time. Like say, if you just saw a movie, talk about the movie. If there's a significant current event occuring, talk about that. If she just got off work, ask her how it was and start from there?

I don't understand the divide between humour & intellect. It doesn't have to be one or the other. The benefits of humour & intellect is only experienced when you have the ability to apply it at the right time and the right conversations. When applied at the wrong situations, they backfire on you and make you look like a douche. So basically, humour & intellect is just a question of timing.

Sex. If you can get a girl to talk about sex, that is the ultimate ice breaker.

Ontopic: Depends on the girl. and it depends on how open they are to discussions. for starters when you're in their friendzone / first meeting, start off with
school, work, what are they taking, more career stuff. They'll go on. and from there, keep the flow going with relavent topics that they mention (if they go to SFU, you can talk about the snowfall that hit before winter break that caused them to cancel their Friday (Dec. 12th) exam)

You can then go into discussions that fall into family, mutual friends, movie (did you watch any recent movies? what scene did you like?) blah blah. just be yourself and say idiot stuff.

most of this stuff comes with practice, so don't worry about getting the girl on the first shot. if you don't succeed, then meh, at least you tried hard enough and learn from your mistakes so you know what to say when communicating to the next girl.

Is it me or is it easier to talk to a girl that is intelligent? I was trying to strike up some conversation this weekend during a dinner and it was painful... The clubber looking girls just don't have anything to say (I think they just don’t care) and the ones who just graduated with a somewhat prestigious degree was just very easy to talk to..

^I think that goes for most people. If you barely know them, current events and educated opinions/questions are great.

I disagree. Girls like to talk about themselves. When having a conversation with anyone, isn't it a lot easier if you've got some common ground to talk about? If you listen, analyze and respond with interest, then you'll be able to have a good conversation. (Fuck, that's what constitutes a conversation after all!) Women would rather have a conversation with you than have you rant and rave about things they can't relate to.

(And if she doesn't, then she's dumb and only worth a lay, but that's probably what you're going for right?:haha:)

It's a 2 way street. I mean I've hung out with people who were just clearly not interested in making conversation or talking unless it was about themselves. I try and be polite, ask them about their family, their lives, make jokes, bring up current events in relation to their lives and usually after they've exhausted talking about themselves, they'll just stay silent again. Conversations wouldn't be so bad if people took turn asking questions.

As for what girls like, generally it's anything that proves that you are skillful.

A lot of girls I know will be interested in a guy if they've got something to say. Especially if it's something the girl is inexperienced in. If you prove your knowledge, many women find it sexy if they're looking for a relationship. Though I wouldn't start out with the alphabetically sorted collection of porn or HSM memorabilia that you like to keep under your bed. Maybe a game, or car. Don't spend too much time on just one topic. It's good to have variety.

Personally, if i'm interested in the guy, I'd like to know about their hobbies, what kind of person they are. Also i'm opened to all kinds of conversation. Depending on how interested I am, I'll invest more time on some topics and less on others.
