I don't understand people bitching about selling their shit 2nd hand. The ONLY reason people buy 2nd hand is to save money. It's like opening up a dollar store then complain about all the cheap people walking in. IT'S EXPECTED! I rarely buy anything used myself because I hate dealing with the headaches unless it's small items. Lastly, a very effective thing to do is to put a "WILL NOT PART OUT" in bold at the top and bottom of your post. And put VERY FIRM on the price if you don't expect to budge on pricing. SIMPLE. It filters out most the super bargain hunters. So if you bitch and whine about getting all the lowballs, put a lowball advisory. SO SIMPO |

I always factor people haggling into the price i put up on CL, oddly most of the things i have sold have went for the posted price. |
As long as you didn't state FIRM or WILL NOT PART OUT I think asking is part of the haggling/negotiating. Some sellers never think about selling things as individual parts until someone offers. Don't bother asking what's the lowest price. Just make an offer. I will offer a lower price if I think the seller jacked up the price. Maybe ask for a lower price, 10% off. If he puts OBO, I might try and go 20% off. Often, sellers jack up the price before putting in OBO to compensate. So you never know how low is too low. Just don't make it too ridiculous. Like 40% off. But you never know. The best deal I got was when I bought my monitor for $170. He was selling for $250 obo, I just gave him an offer expecting him to negotiate it back up to $200-230, but he told me $170, deal. What's annoying is when people change an agreed price during the meeting and when people don't have respect and think their own time is too valuable to type a 10 second email. Some seller (or buyers) are actually nice enough to have short waiting list based on who contacted them first. So reply when you get your emails. Communicate. Can't express how many idiots on CL and on RevScene that can't communicate worth shit when dealing with buy&sell. People need to learn to reply with a "SOLD" if the item is gone, or reply with a "yes" or "no" when I ask them if they are still interested in the item. |
ugh...this has been covered to death and back. But if you don't like ppl offering you retarded amounts of money...DON'T LIST IT ON CL. CL and other similar sites (hell everything on the Internet) is all about lowballers and all about ppl trying to quickly offload shit/buy shit dirt cheap. It's the name of the game. I've bought/sold tons of stuff on websites (from lenses to cars), and you deal with it. I usually list my stuff high because I'm anticipating haggling. And I always haggle on shit too. 99% of the time they budge and we both walk away happy. Some sellers are douchebags too, not just buyers. Ad on CL: Volume 2 of Family Guy on UMD (PSP disc) $30 obo. I email the guy telling him I'll give him 20 cash. Then he replies back saying the 30 is firm...why the fuck do you put it as OBO if it's firm? So a week later I got the same thing on BRAND NEW DVD for $15...this way I can play it at home, on my laptop and I have the converter program to toss it on a memory card for my PSP...I saved $$$ and the dumb fuck is STILL trying to sell his UMDs. |
