Thanks bui95. I wish you had mentioned the discount earlier because I had mine done already for the full $3000 price. I didn't bother negotiating because I didn't think it was negotiable. I heard some people getting it for $2500 but they all said it was for group-packages or corporate employees.

Now it's almost been 1 month since I had it done. I've been checking my eyesight almost every day in the morning with a printed paper of those letters you see at the optometrist. Two weeks after surgery I was seeing 20/30 vision. The third week it was 20/20. And now, I can just make out the letters in the 20/15 line. I can see it getting better daily but I think the effects are starting to slow down.

The difference is kinda like switching from DVD to Bluray in a way. Close objects look the same as before but objects in the distance is clear and look higher resolution.

So after researching, London Eye Centre still the best option? And have their prices gone up or down from the $3000??

Unfortunately, their is only a staff freind/relative rate which is you pay for one eye. I just had pkr down their last week on my one eye as i have to wait a couple months before the other due to my lazy eye.

Amazing though in terms of overall experience and effeciency.

Hahah essentially yes. When i wake up in the morning its odd...I however put a contact into my other eye so it seems normal.

PKR or Lasik???

which?

rslater 06-03-2009 04:29 PM

I had PKR done. My doctor really doesn't reccoment lasik. Its real benifit is the quicker healing time, but long term prk has better results in terms of complications with haze or glares. And while their is really only a minimal chance, their is always the risk of the flap coming off with lasik. I would say that you can't go back to work right away with PKR. I had to take a week off work because you can't work in dusty environments while your wear the contact. But if i had a desk job after 3-4 days I could see myself maybe going back to work. With lasik you could essentialy go the next day.

FYI, "No-touch" PRK and "PRK" are both the same procedure. Just throwing it out there for those who are curious.
