Toyota does not have a NEW one but they have the supra, in japan soarers honda has the s2000 Mazda has the miata. IMO i rather have a supra than a GTR edit: can a gtr do this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmNy-ajRV0U |
Spec V models never really had any extensive edge over standard from the previous Skyline models.... R32 - R34 all had their Spec V models and they are still 280bhp but they come with suspension tuning and different engine programming.... that's about it. the term that will make sense as a "ZR1 killer" you are looking for is the Z-tune which means "the final (because Z is the last alphabet) tune before the model goes out of production" - basically an all out engineer's car to see how far can they go to make it reliable for warranty period. which won't be any time soon for the GTR because it's a 1 year old model. |
my only defense for nissan: at least they are still in business. |
Here's a Video of the GT-R Spec-V Source: GTROC UK |
they doubled the price of the base model? whats the base model cost...? |
Here's pictures and a review of the GT-R Spec-V that's not photoshopped like the Official Press. http://www.carview.co.jp/magazine/ph...efault.asp?p=1 |
no guysssss! you gotta wait for GT-R V-Spec II |

Seriously, though, I'm sure the value of the original parts is not that much less (even when factoring in economy of scale). It's not like you're getting all of this in addition to but rather in lieu of. And none of this requires extensive r&d to justify the cost. I guess some buyers will pay big to have something exclusive. Or so Nissan hopes. |
looking at the past GTR V-Specs (R32-R34), this is keeping with what they do. Charge a lot for not many upgrades. Bigger wheels, brakes, seats, a small performance upgrade... a few lighter parts here and there. Nothing new. |
true, R32-34 V-Specs have maintained same tranny and same 280hp engine. |
ya, it's nothing really new. the R32 got some BBS wheels, bigger brembo brakes, a few body braces and a cool badge. the R34 on the other hand did get a bit more with cooling and such, but it's more of a badge you're buying than anything else. and the sad part is, people will still buy it. I would rather own a NISMO than a v-spec. The only GTR that got a real upgrade was was the V-SpecII NUR. It got a Nur engine block (reinforced) N1 oil pump, N1 water pump, N1 turbos.. etc. Power was bumped up to a rated 320hp with that model. |
the past V-Spec was less then a 10% increase, this time they are asking for nearly twice the price. the price difference for the base R34 GTR and the R34 GTR V-Spec was only as much as the difference between the base R35 and premium R35 timpo, you forgot about the Spec-V carbon fiber key http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/img/c...8/396/vs32.jpg |
that key right there makes it all worth it. |

also this "Vspec" is limited edition at 300 vehicles? There will be die hard enthusiasts who would like to actually buy this and keep it for 20 years until it gets the status of the KPGC10 then LOL. Think of this as the mysterious KenMary Skyline ROFL. |
