Where the F^%@ are all the wand washes?!

I moved out here from Edmonton 7 months ago, and my old place had a nice driveway where I could wash my car. My new apartment...no such luck. I've been looking everywhere for an indoor wand wash. Don't you guys have any of those out here or am I just completely blind? The only one I've seen is an outdoor one at a Co-op gas station.

Back home you couldn't swing a cat without hitting a Hughes...

Only out door wand washes here, and not very many of them. It's not like people get mud on their vehicles here or anything.

ness_71 01-09-2009 09:51 PM

That and the water won't freeze to your car instantly if you wash it outside.

Fleemer 01-09-2009 11:01 PM

i've never seen an indoor one :P

Esso on the corner of shelbourne and hillside has a wand wash. Also there's one at the co-op on millstream road towards Bear Mountain just past Home Depot. There's also a wand wash at the Shell on Island Highway near Goldstream Ave I think. I usually just go to the Esso listed above, but in summer I hand wash at home.

Just be careful at these car washes, none of them have protective rubber tips so when the pressure suddenly drops and if your not hanging onto it with both hands you can drop it right onto your paint and it will leave a nice gouge.

This city sucks for car washes.

Payless on Bay near the Bay Street Bridge has an outdoor one. And I think the gas station at Wilkinson and Interurban does as well.

Also, its near impossible to keep your car clean in this city. Even in summer it can be a clear dry day and then pour that evening. Or some wanker has his sprinklers watering the street. There's always mud somewhere. It's really frustrating coming from the prairies where it will be dry for a week solid so you can keep your car perfect all summer and only wash it once a week.

6 Mile shell!!

OffroadZuki 01-10-2009 08:54 AM

I dunno if it's still there, but when I lived there I used to go to the covered (but not quite indoor) wash at Quadra and McKenzie...just past the intersection on Quadra if you're heading towards Pat Bay...it's a Payless or something....

btw...you lucky son of a gun...I miss Victoria every day I spend in this frozen hellhole they call a city.

It's gone. Co-op on Millstream by the Loghouse has one.

Really? I miss Edmonton, but not because of the weather. I'm having a hell of a time making any friends here at all. Gets kind of boring after awhile.

Thanks for the tips guys, I guess I'll have to use an outdoor one. Nowhere at my new place to wash it, we don't even have a hose. I'd have to run one out my kitchen window or something.

Victoria Car Wash on Gorge next to Tires unlimited is where I always go in the winter.

That is so annoying!

I hate when you park somewhere and find some stupid cat has walked across your car with scratchy feet and claws.

Yeah, man, I wasn't a huge fan of Vic 'till I left...now I miss it lol and I find Ed to be way more boring than Vic...different strokes for different folks, eh?

and +1 for Vic car wash @ Gorge.

You know I've been gone a long time when I can't even recommend a car wash that hasn't been shut down hahaha

pyannaco 01-14-2009 07:24 AM

There's also a covered wand wash at the shell on island view road and the pat bay hwy.

zixian 01-14-2009 03:44 PM

not island view, mt newton..

pyannaco 01-15-2009 07:08 AM

What he said^

rob76 01-20-2009 08:03 PM

You know what I'd like to find? A wand wash where you can spray your car down, fill a bucket, hand wash your car, and then spray your car clean. Anywhere like that exist out here?

rob76 01-22-2009 02:01 AM

Even just a hose... I'd settle for a hose and a place to park. My stupid strata puts the hose away at the end of october... stupid old fart bags. Their explanation was that they didn't want ice to form on the walkway. It didn't even start freezing for a month later. Our parking lot was an ice rink for 2 weeks when that snow storm hit and they didn't do anything about it, but that's ok.

Are you always fucking complaining about something?

BC-X 01-22-2009 01:02 PM

I'd love to wash my car. But of course my condo doesn't have anywhere to wash it.. So, I go and try to wash it at any wand wash..nope Each one in town is lined up 6 deep. I give up for now...

benwang 01-22-2009 01:24 PM

i was wondering the same thing when i moved from regina 2 months ago.
there are people wash, dry and wax of their own vehicle at 24 hour indoor wand wash over there. as long as no one is waiting inline, you can stay inside do whatever (detail interior, chat, get high...etc)
