Tranny swap help, rear mount isn't linning up.

Ok so we are taking the motor from 91 civic hatch (1.6L stock si motor/trans 5spd) with a manual trans and installing it in a 1988 hatch dx We have the motor and trans installed and all but the rear trans mount lined up. Now we took the auto trans mount off the corssmember and looked to see if the manual mount would line up. Doesn't look like it will. I'm wondering what are we missing here? Do we have to swap cross memeber over?

PS Tried searching came up with nothing I could use. I do suck at searching forums though.

Thanks

Matt

don't you have to buy new shift linkage with different chassis?

If I remember correctly, you need a MT rear mount and bracket. The AT rear mount and bracket are different.

Please clarify ,

Are you putting the D16A6 motor and L4 tranny in an EK chassis?

You said you " taking the motor from 91 civic hatch (1.6L stock si motor/trans 5spd) with a manual trans and installing it in a 1988 hatch dx "

If so , how did you even get this far???

Haven't had any problems untill now angus. I don't know the engine codes. It's not my car. It's my friends we're working on this together. The cross member doesn't look like the mount from the manual will fit. I must be missing something

Did you change the passenger side tranny mount too??

Here is a very good write up on the conversion:

OK , so what you need to know is there are two sets of holes in the rear k-member , if you have the correct rubber mount and tranny bracket , everything should drop right in , I have a EF that was auto and I have done many of these.

those models are interchangable. All the mounts will line right up. If you dont drop it in the right way it may seem like it wont line up. You should bolt up the passenger and the rear tranny mount first. then it may line up easier.
