Ice rinks (What's open pre 2010?)

I've seen Killarney and Trout lake Community Centre & they are closed for upgrades/reno/2010 etc. So are there any rinks out there that are not being fancied up for the 2010 cluster bomb?

CT10 01-10-2009 07:40 PM

Kensington? right beside the burnaby north high school?

or 8 rinks/CG brown area?

LongDongSilver 01-10-2009 07:53 PM

All the other 6 rinks in Vancouver are open, just Killarney and Trout Lake are being overhauled. Riley Park will be moving to Hillcrest Park and there will be brand new community centre, including a rink, there.

BTW, there's an email going around with free admission to skate at the Oval, take a class or use the workout facility before Feb 25. If anyone wants it, shoot me a PM w/ your email addy.

Richmond Ice centres always open, and the ubc rinks are all open too. The new olympic rink at ubc's finished already. I ve played there once, nice rink. REALLY bright.

EmOne 01-11-2009 12:12 PM

Where can you print it off?

chic604 01-11-2009 01:02 PM

^ I tried to find it too but no luck yet.

To everyone who has PMed me: The coupon is on my work email account. If we haven't found a link by then, I will send you the pdf when I return to work on Tuesday.

For this, I’ve had some people telling me that you’ll need to do a survey first cause they check ID …

The only one I found was http://richmondoval.ca/survey/default.htm
• Copy this link - www.RichmondOval.ca/Survey
• Send to your friends or family
• Upon survey completion they'll receive their free pass!
I’ve done the survey, but haven’t received anything in terms of a pdf coupon or a link or any kind of confirmation that I get free admission :P

I have yet to check out the oval. I heard its pretty nice.

Gumby 01-12-2009 01:42 PM

I didn't skate on the oval, but was there for its open house. Imagine skating around a 400m track - it's a LOT bigger than your typical hockey rink. Of course, you can't skate through the middle...

Email coupon is fraudulent!!!
Went today to check it out and apparently those passes are NOT real. Luckily, I knew someone who worked there so we got to skate for free anyway. Sorry guys...they're not the real deal. One hell of a place though. I would've paid the $12.50 just to say I've skated there.

chic604 01-13-2009 06:58 PM

Was your coupon about the size of a business card? They asked how I got mine and said if it was via email, it was the fake one. Here's a pic of what I received:
