recommend a good hair wax

can anyone recommend to me a good hair wax? I want something really strong, something i can have in all day and not have to worry about it falling apart. Thanks guys

Are you set on using wax only? I use a salon-grade hair gel sold only at salons. It's call Micro V Fix Gel. 200ml squeeze bottle usually going for $10 - $15 and lasts a while for me. I've been using it for over 5 years.

right now i use Spiker, which is kind of like a "glue". I just want something really thick and strong i can mold my with. I have a weird hair growth pattern, and i need something to combat that with

i used to use Crew Mint/lime wax i belive

it was awsome, best stuff i ever used

mazdaboi 01-13-2009 02:31 PM

I use Sebastian's Xtah Crude Clay. I've been using the same bottle for about a year... it'll last you for a long time.

Go to Chura hair salon and ask them for the hard wax, its called H - sesi, its about15-20$ from japan? but it lasts a LONG time and its QUALITY shit

I think it also depends what you want. Shiny or matte?

Gatsby?

I tried about half the gels/wax they sell in those discounted places like megahair or the one in richmond centre.

My favourite is Giesel. It's not very popular but it is a good product that's easy to put on and wash off. They sell it at the chinese hair salon in richmond centre for about $20. It's good for camping!

American Crew Matte Fiber Molding Cream is also good. I like it because they sell it everywhere and it's cheap ($13). Some people prefer the American Crew Tea Tree wax but I find that they're pretty similar and it isn't worth it to pay extra for the tea tree oil because you don't feel anything. It's not as easy to put on or wash off as Giesel but I find it has a stronger hold. If you put too much you'll get white dots on your hair.

And generally, matte is safer and gives you the most natural look. I get some compliments when using matte but along time ago when I was using glossy, people would say that my hair looks greasy.

justin476 01-14-2009 08:44 AM

yeah i want something matte. I agree if you put too much gel in, it ends up just looking wet or greasy. Thanks for the suggestions guys, i'll go try and hunt a few of these down.

I'm currently using this as well, it's been working quite well. I have used "Matrix Switch Up – Gel-Wax". Also not a bad choice. Matrix has a pretty decent line of Hairstyling products.

I've been using gatsby moving rubber. Not sure if it's considered wax though.

It's wax.
And it's bad. Tastes forever to wash the wax off.

Sebastian is prob the best wax i've used.

yuusha 01-15-2009 07:04 PM

^ I agree, although I think it's just as hard to wash out as Gatsby.

If you've tried these brands and they're not strong enough for you, why not try using some hair spray? Got2B Glued freezing spray if you wanna give it a try.

spagheddie 01-15-2009 08:52 PM

Gatsby ftw!

Ax2-Y 01-15-2009 09:02 PM

red_2 01-16-2009 12:49 AM

i like Gatsby

nice and strong

I've been experimenting with the pink moving rubber, along with purple... pink is more suited for my needs, as my hair is shorter (in a context compared to those crazy japanese guys)

However, I agree that hairspray is a good investment.

I have pink and purple.
Pink is for short hair, purple is for mediumish hair.
but really...when I compare to honger hair, I have short hair even when I consider it "long"... haha.

Ikkaku 01-16-2009 01:31 PM

yeah man, their standards of hair length are waaaay different from others

Eff-1 01-16-2009 05:43 PM

I recently switched who cuts my hair and I learned that a lot has to do with your specific haircut. If he/she knows what she's doing, they can cut exactly the style you want, and then you don't need to rely on gobs and gobs of wax and hairspray.

justin476 01-17-2009 10:34 PM

i'll give this gatsby stuff a try. I have pretty short hair, so it's tough to mold it when it's shorter. Any idea where i can buy it?
