What does "computational" mean? AFAIK, human brain > computer, will always be so.

AGREED

the general population uses barely 6% of their brain up to a max of 11%
going along with evolution this percentage should exponentially increase accordingly
which means there is no way a computer can ever exceed our full potential
then again we all pretty know-nothings in todays materialistic world
so who knows...

Wykydtron 01-13-2009 04:32 PM

That's interesting......where is all of this info coming from though? Where did this video come from? Where are their references to prove that everything said isn't being pulled out of their asses? It is very easy to accept some of those facts, but to me, a large chunk seem quite arbitrary and highly....HIGHLY speculated.

6 to 11 percent at any given time, not in absolute total. The idea that we use only about 10% of our brains in total is kind of ridiculous.

Which is exactly why you wouldn't underestimate potential inventions of the brain.

We were able to invent a calculator, that does normal arithmetics at speeds that are ridiculous compared to the average human being. Computers are also capable of extracting information far quicker than the brain. Translated, that means in one way or another, there are already inventions that outweigh the current potential of the left hemisphere of the brain.

its taken what, 10,000 years for humans to evolve to using 6-11% of their brain. its taken less than 70 years to develop a computer that matches that computing power.

if you're going to use a word like exponential in your post, you should be able to see that computers are advancing at a rate well beyond the human brain. :)
