WTF is this "immigants" shit. They're Canadians. Some Canadians want the anthem sung in Hinda, they're a small minority and it's not one of the official languages of Canada. They can go fuck themselves.

Hindu's make a small minority of the South Asian population in Canada and I've never heard of one Hindu group in Canada be vocal about anything except for the outcome of the Air India bombings. The original poster of this chain letter must be some redneck from up north because he/she should have put "PUNJABI" and not "HINDI" because it would have made this rant more authentic but I guess all rednecks think Indians speak Hindi.

What the fuck? Falcon is just trying to stir shit up here by posting up that nonsense. I watch the news religiously and have not once heard of an ethnic minority asking for the national anthem to be sung in any language other than English or French.

The article listed is from September 2007 - that's 16 months ago and the content of that article, in no way, discusses the national anthem in any way. If in fact any ethnic group wants the national anthem sung in their language post a fucken link to a credible source rather than some email a hillbilly wrote up.

Lastly, the message talks about "news broadcasts even gave the Hindi version translation" -- has anyone here heard it?

Ok ill try and keep this short and sweet. Anyway supposively theres an original article somewhere of a group of punjabis lobbying to have the anthem sung in there language because they feel they have rights in this country:eek:(cant find the original article) and Bruce Allen responded on CKNW about it. He was given some high up job in the 2010 olympic commitee and now the punjabi's are mad and want him fired. Here is Bruce Allens comments from CKNW. To be honest i cant really disagree with him. Why change the laws for other cultures coming into our country right? It wouldnt happen anywhere else.

If I didn’t know any better it would seem there has been a lot of immigrant bashing going on in the past few months. A month ago the Sikh community was all up in arms about Passport Canada refusing to issue passports to three Sikh kids because they were wearing religious headgear for the photos. The children were wearing those handkerchiefs which are knotted at the top of the head to keep their hair intact. That incident came on the heels of an immigration plan that was in the works to have Sikhs with the surnames Singh or Khan to change those names as to avoid administrative mistakes. Too many Singhs… too many Khans that was the problem. And now we got a controversy over the fact Elections Canada has said that its alright to have burqa covered Muslim women vote in elections when it is very clear that voters have to be able to be identified when going to the polls.

All of these issues join the list that contains the turban wearing Mountie’s problem and the one where the motorcycle rider was angry that he had to wear a helmet, as it [is] impossible to get it on over his turban.

This is all very simple… we have laws in this country, they are spelled out and they are easy to get a hold of. If you are immigrating to this country, you don’t like the rules that are in place then you have the right to choose not to live here. But if you choose to come to a place like Canada, then shut up and fit in. We are a democracy, but it seems more and more that we are being pilloried by special interest groups that just want to make special rules for themselves.

And let me make one thing clear, there is no group in the Hindi or Punjabi community that has made any claims about asking the committee to the anthem in Punjabi or Hindi. If there was, Kim Bolan and the Vancouver Sun would have been the first to report on it.

Its some redneck who drafted up an email and forwarded it on with the goal of causing hate against Hindus or Punjabis. And by looking at the response from everywhere here, its working, even though there is no article to suggest that anything in that email is true.
