I'm trying to do the transfer for UBC Sauder or SFU Beedie. It requires non-commerce/business related courses...so just my GPA boosters...

shawn79 11-19-2011 10:54 PM

SFU business doesn't include your electives in GPA calculation, only the core business related courses.

I agree, unless you want to transfer into UBC or SFU arts, do not bother taking those courses. I am in my first semester and I had no clue what to do and I regret taking psychology and other art course

focus on the required courses so you can transfer out of Langara ASAP

lol you realize you still need electives no matter what faculty you decide to transfer into so its not a complete waste.

BaoTurbo 11-20-2011 04:14 PM

I'm re taking courses next sem which I planned to do to boost GPA for SFU

so basically econ 1220, econ 1221, math 1174 and english 1127? you would still need to take electives though...

Well, my first choice is UBC Sauder but I'm also working on my extra curricular stuff since I'm planning to transfer into year 3. Like I said before most stuff requires electives sooner or later...

So guys, registration starts on Monday! Anyone taken Spanish 1115 before with Gambroudes or Psychology 1215 with Jeff Webster? How difficult are introductory language courses at Langara? Also what are some of you guys planning to take?

jeff webster is one of my good friends dad. I know him as a person but not as a teacher.

I really suggest

Barton.

Seriously.

Dont attend classes. 1 paper. 3-4 midterms.

All from the book.

Here's my "teachers to avoid list"

Nykon, Seary, Lab instructor wang (or some stupid asian name)

Same... I'm planning on repeating one. Does the first one still count towards my CGPA when I transfer?

Im guessing hes taking chinese.

TBH. chinese1115 is a joke.. im getting an A- if not an A with minimal effort. Do the homework and look at the textbook 15 min before class.

This is coming from a person who speaks minimal chinese at home with parents.

Feel bad for you bro...so much to do! I was just wondering if we retake a course, would they take the better mark or average out both marks and put that on your transcript?

All grades count toward your GPA at Langara regardless if you retake it. But if you transfer, SFU/UBC will take highest mark.
