this is total BS imo

i dont think any of you need to know how much my dad makes. i dont need to know either.

i wander if there can be any action against the sun under the privacy act?

Your dad is a government employee, we are his employers. As a result we the people are entitled under law to know who gets paid more than $75,000.

So please, go frack yourself.

my accounting instructor at bcit makes a little over 83k. but i do think with the benefits , medical, and all that perks probably put him over 100k.

edit - and my business information system instructor makes over 115k lol wtf? he sits on his ass all day doing some excel spreadsheet and makes more

My favorite prof from SFU only makes 90k a year. He deserves more, he was absolutely awesome, a straight G.

tamiya_s2000 01-17-2009 12:46 AM

Synaptik 01-17-2009 01:31 AM

Levi, Maurice David Professor, The Sauder School of Business $323,926

<this is the only guy who deserves it. absolute genius.

I'd like to bring something else about. There are profs who launch spin-off companies through their research on campus. I know of one Head at the UBC Hospital who sold his company about two years ago for close to $100 million; and of that he pocketed a rumored 70%, yet his income declared on that site is only $253,000.

jimzilla 01-17-2009 09:41 AM

my asshole mbb prof is making 150k a year? how the hell

Read the linked info more carefully. The link provides the publicly funded earnings of these people -- not business that they may have one the side (that's their own business!).

You are missing the point here, being in public sector means EVERY tax paying citizen is your employer, and being your employer means we have every right to know how much you are getting paid with our money.

What do you think would happen if all these information are confidential?
How would you feel like if it turns out every retarded custom officer at the airport are paying themselves $500,000 each with your money? while you are making your puny $50,000 a year and almost 30% of it goes into tax paying these wages?

I like Levi, he's a smart guy, but over $300K, now that's excessive!!! To think some people believe Doctors make too much money!

why does it list peoples names? why not just "a finance minister makes $xxx"

not "mr john of blowjob division makes $132000 ps his wifes name is sandra, he lives on buttfuck street, and if you want you can egg his house between the hours of 7pm and 9pm"

its bs and its infringing on peoples rights

No it's not dude :haha:

You're a moron. Your example is flawed, that's a private corporation, this is a public corporation and WE are your employers.

In your example we are nothing but the consumers.

I'm going to refrain from calling you a list of profanities and capping it off with a nice moron cherry on top because I have points already, but jeebus guy.

Stuff like this exists so we know how much we are paying guberment employees and so that we the employers don't get reamed.

Ferra 01-17-2009 11:15 AM

Most of the profs I had in UBC commerce was on the list and make well over $100K. I do think the majority of them deserve that considering their qualification & experience. And more importantly, most of them will have no problem getting the same level of salary in the private sector.

jeffh 01-17-2009 11:41 AM

we disagree on a subject so you call me a moron, and then you failed to fault my alternative where we arent listing peoples names.

He's not a prof, he's my instructor for the collision repair program I'm taking at vcc.

89andy 01-17-2009 04:32 PM

profs do most of their work behind the scenes, which is mostly researching. Doing lectures and stuff is the least of a prof's worries ... it's the most slack part of their job. Atleast that's what my cousin told me and she's a professor as well.

TRDood 01-17-2009 09:56 PM

ahhh i see..
you gotta be REALLY good at math for econ to be on that list

i think with all that education and such, i expected them to make more.. but hey, my profs seem like they can do watever the hell they want and makes 120k.. i think thats awesome!
comparing to a business guy that work their ass off 12 hours a day in some cubicle

higher education owns ALL!!!!!!

rev5325 01-17-2009 11:10 PM

profs seem like their job is pretty easy

Agreed. Great guy.

noots 01-18-2009 01:43 AM

Great, the next time I'm in lecture I'm just going to imagine dollar signs around my prof

slammer111 01-18-2009 02:29 AM

Damn, Burkholder (Phil120 anyone?) makes 99k at UBC..

VERY cool link. Thanks for the heads up.

The work may be "easy", but research definitely isn't for everyone. They just spend a ton of time at a lab, instead of a cubicle.
