Math help

IS anyone here good at this stuff.

i have 3 questions to due. And was wondering if anyone could give me a hand.

1. A circle has x intercepts at A(1,0) and B(5,0) and its center lies on the line y = 4. Determine the equation of this circle?.

2. Find the points of intersection between the circle (x - 3)2+ (y-1)2 = 5 and the line y = 2x -2

3. Find the shortest distance between the point P(6,5) and the line 3x+4y=24.

any help would be awesome.

thank you.

teaoh 01-17-2009 03:37 PM

you do something similiar to this stuff in grade 12. Think it was in chapter 1

misteranswer 01-17-2009 03:38 PM

1. determine the radius
2. substitute the equation for the line into the equation for the circle.
3. I dunna kno. Draw it.

what he said

seems like math 11. refer to the formula/equation

lilaznviper 01-17-2009 04:07 PM

its math 12 chapter 2 if i remember... it was dead easy if u remember the equations

for the last question the best thing is use the equation
y=mx+b and draw

first question write out hte equation for a circle and then then plug in the numbers

wuuhoo 01-17-2009 05:31 PM

I think number 2 is math 12..

anywways the last question, change 3x +4y =26 into y =mx+b form . which is y= -3/4 +6 . graph that, and then from the point to the line, use the distance formula.

i think tahts how you do it.

get a tutor

t8v6 01-17-2009 07:49 PM

read the textbook

teaoh 01-17-2009 08:47 PM

^with math, reading the text is pointless. Doing practice questions are more worthy of your time and more useful to your learning.
