Chinese restaurants celebrate first awards

DISH AND CHIPS: CBC-TV show host Jaeny Baik and former city councillor B.C. Lee fronted the first Chinese Restaurant Awards ceremony -- www.chineserestaurantawards.com -- at Edgewater Casino Thursday. Among 10 categories, online voters named Sun Sui Wah best dim sum restaurant, and Mui Garden and Shanghai River best Cantonese and Northern. Professional judges top-rated many well-known restaurants for 24 signature dishes, but also cited Long's Noodle House on Main Street and West Broadway's Lin for most innovative and Shanghai dim sum respectively. To accompany dishes, especially Sun Sui Wah's winning lamb hot pot, Molson representative Aussie Jiwani nominated and served plenty of his employer's Singaporean Tiger lager.

I can't really say.. I don't go out for dim sum as much as I used to, maybe only once a month, and usually its either Sea Harbour or Kirin in Richmond.. but they are more pricy. But theres alot of decent places that have good prices, pink pearl just isn't one of them lol.

pandalove 01-18-2009 01:50 PM

hahah white boys voted thats why

noots 01-18-2009 01:59 PM

^Shit son, I grew up on Hons. Fuck you for dissing them. They're the best shit ever.

!SG 01-18-2009 03:59 PM

mui gardens is good for asian style curry.

sun sui wah, i still like their squab, and on weekends if ur there early, while it still lasts, u can order the fresh tofu dessert.

most restaurants taste the same to me, they all outsource for their dimsum.

observer 01-18-2009 04:12 PM

Mui's Garden has the best sweet and sour pork.
