Lol, it does seem rather retarded to be tailgating someone when the right lane is open. I personally don't have a problem with right or left lanes. They are both passing lanes to me as long as two cars aren't matching speeds and creating a traffic wall. Honestly, sometimes the weaving through left and right lanes (provided one is always open for passing) makes highway driving that much more interesting and fun. Beats cruise control and zoning out.

Not that it's "justification" by any means, but instead of continually firing back at the SYMPTOMS of a particular problem, ie. road rage and aggressive driving, perhaps ICBC and the police should invest a little time into addressing the CAUSE of the problem, ie. utter lack of common sense and common courtesy on the roads... such as failure to keep right (as required by law)... failure to signal properly (like sitting at a light in the left lane until traffic is all stacked up behind you, THEN turning on your left signal as soon as the light turns green, thus trapping a bunch of cars behind you that otherwise might have had a chance to change lanes if your signal had been on when it should have been)... all those things that make other drivers almost universally look at you and think, "Get off the road, you f'ing moron."

Yeah, I hate the traffic trappers. Or people that take so long to turn in the green left turn lights. On a given busy day, you expect all the cars to turn like one long train, bumper to bumper with maybe a few feet in between. But no, these guys wait until the car infront of them are through the intersection and finished the turn, before they begin to gas and turn. WTF, you'll only squeeze 4 cars in that case. Or the idiot that is rolling up to an intersection that has a long green light. You just know it's gonna turn yellow soon. He's rolling up on the left turn lane very slowly, like 10km/h slow... and he still has about 10-15 feet from the white line. Then the light turns yellow, he guns it and barely makes the left turn, and now I'm stuck because the moron didn't just move up to the line faster.

Short of driving recklessly, I don't see a problem with these driving habits. This is exactly why there are conflicts on the road. Everyone has a differing opinion of what is proper driving.

Can't wait till our civilization graduates to an Automated Driving System. With humans out of the equation and everyone car operating out of one Driving Standard with only one interpretation, that'll be the end of motorist conflicts.

try to give the person the benefit of a doubt, unless they're waving a gun around.

if theres a car behind you, move over to the right.

however if he tried to run u off the road, fuck it. he's obviously out of his tree. its a good thing u did by stopping and NOT tailing him back.

the problem with that is that he would be more likely to have a gun and know how to use it than you...where I am (not Van), some guy accidentally cut another guy off the other guy off...the other guy pulled a gun and pointed it at the first guy...not really a solution.

+1...it's way too easy to get carried away and want to follow the guy/give him a taste of his own medicine and those things can get out of hand and turn brutal very quickly...

Actually they didn't ask her for her info. She told me this after she got off the phone with the police. Hence my original statement of I find it curious as to why the police didn't even ask for info. If she was forced to make an ICBC claim they would want the police file number. As far as things go she didn't get one or a call back.

Would you settle for something in between... say, driver TRAINING??

Half the reason everyone has a "differing opinion of what is proper driving" is because so few have actually been taught properly. ICBC really needs to get behind mandatory driver training *in high school*. Make it part of the curriculum, that students at least have some common training in what actually constitutes "proper driving". Slot it into a couple weeks of grade 10 Social Studies or something.
