| Auto-x Street Tires
Anyone try the Toyo R1R's or the Dunlop Z1's.
Looking to change from the RT615's...even though the
Falkens are the least expensive.

^the falkens arent any good^
briand check out to see if the new bridgestone re111 comes in your size. i ran the RE01R on my integra all last year drag strip visits and all and they still dont show much wear. not to mention the bridgestone placed in the top 6 places in all of the street tire classes at the us nationals last year

RE011's are $810US
R1R's $737US
Z1 Star's $580US
and the RT615's $500
All these prices are before shipping!
Quite a spread in cost. The Stones are almost double the Falkens....do you
think they are twice as good?...is the value there?

well depends how deep char wants to go really i guess. they were worth it for me, i wanted that last 1 tenth of a second. from all accounts the R1R's arent worth it, they are as fast as the re01r but wear way too fast (on a 1900lb fwd civic no less) but if i was still in the game and buying my own tires again, i would probably end up with the RE01r or the star spec. depending on how much $$ i had in my pocket.
i was never an azenis fan, wear to fast suck in the wet and need to be cooled. plus falken doesnt support autoX events so they dont deserve any of my buisness. in the states bridgestone and Toyo both offer coningency money for autoxers

Well.......I dont think that 1% will help Char much...she still has to get more aggressive.
The Dunlops seem to be priced quite well...just have not heard much about them.
Have not heard anything on thr new Kumho's either.

For that price difference I would go with the Star Specs.

there was a video from Hot Version where the drift king was comparing all of those exact tires in lap times. I'll dig up the results later tonight.
in the video, he was also comparing the driving feel (I think) of each tire. obviously, it was all in japanese so I didn't understand a word he was saying! |

"less tire" a tire that performs worse. she will learn more with a more forgiving less sticky street than with a real good one that will mask mistakes simply by gripping so well
and overseas its the advan Neova you are thinking of, and its been proven inferior as a competetive autoX tire

ok, I found the info I mentioned earlier. it's from Hot Version vol93. they compared 4 tires on an essentially stock Miata. 215/45/r17 sized tires used.
BridgeStone RE-11
Dunlop Direzza Sports Z1*Spec
Yokohama Neova AD07
Toyo R1R
track was Ebisu (west) Circuit
first time is the 1st lap, where you launch from a start. the 2nd time is the best time when lapping the circuit
Z1: 1'16"294 1'10"145
Neova AD07: 1'18"481 1'11"859
RE-11: 1'17"372 1'10"661
R1R: 1'15"638 1'10"858
hope this info helps. or maybe it'll just add to the confusion
edit: I noticed you mentioned "value" in the pricing of the tires you are looking at. another factor to add into the value is the wear of the tires. obviously, the RT615 Azenis are the cheapest since they have a treadwear rating of 200.

The Dunlops sound like a good compromise......If things get hardcore maybe should
skip the Stones and just buy some 245 A6's and a wider set of wheels....get a chance to
use that fender roller we bought!
