i think staples has the hp adaptor for like $60? might want to give staples a check.
hp and compaq uses the same parts. however, you can go a get a universal adaptor by targus or kensington at like bestbuy or futureshop.

I recently ordered one from www.getpartsonline.com. i have the r4000 compaq and their AC adapter plugs arent the same as the universal ones... the adapter came in 7 buisness days and cost me 39.99 + 23.05 for shipping.. just search google or yahoo! for the laptop model number and AC adapter. you should get tons of hits from computer stores.

Yeah we had a ac adaptor inhouse like 2 months back and then sold it(sorry ur a little late).. I think an original costs $120, if i recall right... I'm sure your better off going with a universal... Also the few compaq ive dealth with, ive noticed they all have the exact same ac adaptor. So not to sure if there is a specific one for you notebook, but yeah the ones i looked at all have same ac adaptor but diffrent model compaqs... If that helps...

I was gonna suggest them. It's a small little place crammed full of misc odds and ends.
Or you can try RP Electronics www.rpelectronics.com
check their site to see if they have what you need, they have a very big catalogue online.
