^ Rogers lets you... if you tell the CSR the code for it. It's on HF somewhere... I'm not sure if it works the same for Fido though.

anyone have an idea how to make my rogers bold work for fido's BIS? i was thinking that adding my IMEI to my account would make push email and IM work but i'm having my doubts since it ain't a fido phone.

^so a rogers blackberry won't work with fido's BIS?
cuz i have a rogers 8900, and i just got a data plan.. and it doesn't even work with edge.
so i went to the fido at richmond centre today and the guy said that none of the data would work until i get BIS on it next week. he told me it's coming out on the 7th, but i've been reading that it's the 4th :S

The 8100 should launch on Wed (4th) with the Flip and the Javelin following some time in March. That's what I've heard so far.

You'll need to unlock the Berry and possibly register it through the Fido BB service to get BIS to work.

^^thats wut i think too. i'm not sure if i should be registering my Bold's imei with fido even though it's a rogers phone. darthchilli and i are kinda stumped by this situation too.

@simplex123 ur data plan's not working because BB has to be registered through BIS.

Shuya80, my brother is in Hong Kong and he doesn't need to register his unlocked Bold regardless when he is back in Vancouver, Hong Kong, or using it in New York. So I'm pretty sure you don't need to register the IMEI.

Why wouldn't you want to register your bold's IMEI with Fido? what would happen? :S

Also, check this out. http://www.howardforums.com/showpost...&postcount=154
The guy said that rogers wouldn't release the PIN until the original owner of the phone calls in.
Would that only matter if the phone itself was on BIS before? If I bought the phone brand new I'm okay right?

Yeah it would only matter if it was signed onto BIS before.

Just switched my $25 data to the $25 data with BIS. Kicked in a few minutes after. I have an unlocked Rogers BB Bold. I registered on fido.blackberry.com before when I first got my blackberry trying to push the service book for my msn because it wasn't working. I bought mine LNIB from CL, called rogers to confirm that the IMEI and PIN is all valid before I paid the guy.

Everything is good to go, my push email account for gmail spammed me all at once, bb browser works in both modes, service books all pushed, msn works then. Havn't tested bb msger as my contacts havn't been confirmed so can't send any msgs to test.

So far so good.

The blackberry email is pretty useless. No junk mail filter and no webmail access.

Yes, you have to sim unlock it. Lots of websites offer it for about 20 bucks.
