It's supposed to be with a C. For the uninformed, the K was made more commonplace against our will. |

Yup the correct romanized spelling of the word is with a C. Think coerce, coalition, code etc etc. So others, like myself use a C whenever possible to help shed like on the matter.
The whole K thing came about during the Japanese occupation. It was in line with their aim to destroy our identity (art, literature, martial arts). Somehow it became more widely known with a K and seemed to stick. Interestingly, the French still spell Corea with a C. |

There's some more info here if you'd like to look into it more.

I will still refer to it with a C since I knew what it meant to people who had to live under tyranny. |

I will still refer to it with a C since I knew what it meant to people who had to live under tyranny. | The Japanese occupation wasn't a myth. I'm sure it was terrible for the Korean people during that time. However, the fact that English language nations "switched" from using a C to a K is coincidental. They used both C and K before and after the occupation, but eventually settled on K over time.
I'm sure it's going to be tough to tell this to a patriotic Korean, but it's just the truth.

I'm sure it's going to be tough to tell this to a patriotic Korean, but it's just the truth. | Reading the wiki again, I'm going to say that you are correct. However, in recent years there's been a resurgence of the use of C instead of K. I guess now it stands as more of a 'independence' symbol and the facts surrounding it are a bit skewed.

At least it's not offensive patriotism like you often get from mainland chinese people, and Americans
