Torrent downloader

What should I use? I've been using BitTorrent for who knows how long, but I find that it slows down the rest of my computer when I use it, so looking for something a little quicker.

Any suggestions?

jackmeister 01-26-2009 07:30 PM

you mean as a downloading program for torrents or an alternative to torrents?
uTorrent is pretty good

_Hotsauce_ 01-26-2009 07:31 PM

Downloading program; I love my torrents :)

lilaznviper 01-26-2009 07:32 PM

utorrent is the best

.Renn.Sport 01-26-2009 07:34 PM

bitcomet

way2quik 01-26-2009 07:36 PM

utorrent.

_Hotsauce_ 01-26-2009 07:39 PM

Got uTorrent, I like the interface more then BitTorrent, Thanks

Wow, there is a HUGE speed boost from BitTorrent, on BT I was getting maybe 50kb/sec with uTorrent, I'm getting 250-350/kb on the same torrent.

Downloading with peaks of 550kb/sec now....WOOT

inzomniak 01-26-2009 07:54 PM

utorrent is great because it doesn't kill your resources....
Azureus was killing mine...

LsquareD 01-26-2009 07:59 PM

I've used Bitcoment, Azureus and uTorrent.

uTorrent works best for me

Armind 01-26-2009 07:59 PM

uTorrent with customized settings FTW

eddoe 01-26-2009 08:21 PM

I've been using uTorrent until I made the switch to newsgroups.

Gh0stRider 01-26-2009 09:33 PM

im using Vuze. I was using Bittorrent and ya, it was slowing down my computer.

Cman333 01-26-2009 09:41 PM

I was using ABC for while and it slowed my old comp down bigtime, i ended up trying uTorrent because a couple people recommended it and it works WAYYYYYY better. Doesn't use up as many resources.

hotjoint 01-26-2009 09:43 PM

i use azureus

way2quik 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

utorrent is really the only torrent app you should be using for torrents.

the old ones don't cut it anymore: abc, bittornado.
Also BitComet is banned by many trackers and private torrent sites.

InvisibleSoul 01-27-2009 02:28 AM

I'm still using BitComet... haven't really found a reason to switch.

For those that have used both BitComet and uTorrent, what's the major differences besides BitComet being banned from some trackers?

Grandmaster TSE 01-27-2009 12:52 PM

i've been using utorrent for a while now
love it way more than bitcomet

But why?

viper11885 01-27-2009 01:57 PM

utorrent or azureus.

Cman333 01-27-2009 02:19 PM

Curious why some trackers ban the use of bitcomet?

i find it connects to trackers better and allows more customization than bitcomet
plus the whole banned issue with bitcomet

uTorrent is pretty good

i also suggest using µtorrent

lilaznviper 01-27-2009 10:11 PM

utorrent uses a lot less resources than other types of downloaders

azureus just uses too much resources and for me it checks torrents everytime i start it up

Razor Ramon HG 01-27-2009 10:29 PM

Most people use Azureus or uTorrent. The fact I didn't need to use Java with uTorrent made it an easy choice.

Jer3 01-27-2009 11:05 PM

i use to use azureus but then it was a major resource hog. switched over to utorrent and never looked back.
