Owned for 2 months now. Fallen head over heels for her tbh.

Still need to figure out how to get traction in gears 1 through 4, but once I get that sorted out, she'll be perfect.

Spoiler!

Ugh.

All the cumz.

So disgustingly disgusting nice. E46 M3 had it all.

The best all-round sports car of the last 25 years?

Fuck off if you disagree.

Thank you.

You know how on porsches dick I am, but for an all round sports car a 911 doesn't come close for an average adult. You can't even fit a third human in the car unless they are sub 5 feet.

^ maybe for older 911s, but with the 4 extra inches of wheelbase on a 991, my 5ft 6inch son fits fine in the back

Yeah, maybe. I haven't owned one of them "P" vehicles so I can't comment on the daily driving / ownership, but I have to point out the price difference and sacrifices (even if they're minor) in practicality.

From talking to Porsche peeps, the Cayman seems to be super popular and highly regarded, but it's not as pretty as an e46 M (imo) and definitely doesn't compare in terms of daily practicality. Boxster can GTFO.

(FWIW, even tho I'm a bit of a Bimmer fanboy, I did seriously consider a CaymanS recently but chose the M4 for better daily practicality, better aesthetics (IMO), and value for $$... but if you want to offer me a new, comparably-equipped 911 for ~$100k all-in, I'm ready to sign the paper... happy to admit that not every car coming out of Munich is a winner)

Anyway, fuck it. e46 M3 for life my brahs. #BiasedAsFuck

^ don't get me wrong, for an everyday driver, M3/4s are still brilliant cars, easy to live with, and super practical. Yes, 911s are more expensive and less practical than a M cars, but what they do well, they do way better than M cars. Here is my take;

Practicality/Ease of Use: M3>911
Comfort: M3>911
Power: pretty much a draw
Steering: both pretty good, but 911 is a bit better
Handling: it is much easier to drive a M3 at the limit Vs 911. Much steeper learning curve to drive a 911 fast.

Chassis Dynamics: This is where the 911 destroys the M3. Quite franky, they don't play the same game. The M3 is very good, but is just way too soft, even the solid mounted rear subframe of a new M4. The 911 feels like a tank carved out of piece of billet aluminum. Most solid car I have every driven, better than most Ferraris and Lambos.

Traction: This is another area where the 911s are head and shoulders above M3s. You can get on the loud pedal much faster out of a turn compared to a M3. The way 911 lay down the power is orgasmic!

For the money, M3s are great value and awesome everyday cars, but from a performance standpoint, they are in a different league than 911s. Please note, my 911 comments are based off a 2015 991 GTS. The 991 was a huge leap forward compared to 997s.

Posted this in the Official pic of your ride thread. But now that I left Honda/JDM life, I figured I should get to know the BMW community of RS.

My childhood dream car has always been an e46. So earlier this month, when the opportunity presented itself, I bought an 02 330ci. It's also my first manual car (I miss auto). It's no m3, but I'll save that for later in my life.

I'm excited to hear tips on how to wrench (out of necessity) and learn from this community! I admit, I probably should have learnt manual and how to wrench on something cheaper.

Welcome! This car isn't that costly if you know where to get your parts and how to diagnose properly. There are a few things you need to bulletproof and then it'll be smooth sailing. I owned and DIYed my 330i for 8 years until I changed it to an M. If you have any questions PM me and we can exchange mobiles to text.

It's the first year driving my '00 328ci and I don't know why but i'm somewhat excited to DIY the car. What's your next plans for the car?

Next plan for the car is to first fix my OPG, OFHG, and shifter seal leaks. Find the cause of the burning oil. And as of just now, I gotta solder my outside temperature sensor back on. Previously owner did a hack job, so when I scraped into my complex, it ripped the fender liner and the sensor right out.

After that I'll de-rice the car, and make it so much more drivable. I'm planning coils since shocks are shot anyway. While I've always wanted this fitment - just about no wheel gap, this is a terrible set up. I rub everywhere and fender liner is gone. Car is basically too low, bumper fitment is trash, car looks great on 19s but 265 in the rear is way too fat.

Speaking of which, LF 19" wheels with tires (preferably summers)

BMW - post your ride!

I've run 265 for years and years on my 330i sedan with less space than a coupe. It's all about wheel offset and/or suspension alignment. Oh and I guess condition of your shocks!!

Oh my 19" VMR V710's that are in the pic are for sale too. They're bare without rubber.

VMR's are a great choice! There's also a set of BBS CH with tires on CL (been up for months and price dropped from 1600 to 1200 now). They are 18's but I feel they're a better wheel size.

Hahah I'm glad we think they're both a great choice, cause I have both. The VMRs are my summers rn, but I want to sell so I can get some new summers on the BBS CH. The previous owner had the BBS on Nokian all weathers, which I hear has amazing snow performance. My only issue is that I'll have to stay on 19s, as the all weathers and BBS are 19s. I'll probably downsize when I need to replace the all weathers.

Are you keeping your smoked/black corners or would you be interested in trading for OEM clear corners?
