Good place for raw Oysters & fried Oysters Hey guys, I've been searching online for good raw oysters. So far found a couple with good reviews like Rodey's. As for good fried oysters, there's this place near Granville island someone was telling me about that comes with a shot of lager or something. Anyone tried this before? Please give your input and reviews for good raw and fried oysters :) |
Joe forte for raw.. One of the best in the city |
x2 Joe Forte's also check out The Sand Bar, Blue Water Cafe, and Rodney's Oyster House |
I was also going to say Joe Fortes for raw oysters ...haha that and Ebisu =) |
the boathouse isn't that bad either. Whats that place by granville island called? I remember it's not bad as well |
the one by granville island is sandbar...its right next to the market. have always heard good things abt it but yet to check it out. |
For fried oysters, and only if you feel very adventerous, try The Only Seafood restaurant on East Hastings and I think it was Carall. |

I remember reading a thread on it long time ago here on RS...I still want to give this place a try someday, but yeah..its in such a shitty area..hahaha |
I gotta agree, Blue Water is good. Rodney's isn't too bad either. Plus for me is that they're on my walk home from work so I don't need to drive there. |
Thanks guys for all your help. I've heard good stuff for Joe Forte's as well. bcrdukes - what do you mean by only if you feel adventerous? Do you mean the restaurant is ghetto and nasty? I wish I could just walk to these places too. |

Ordered the seafood platter and the red clam chowder. Everything was ... as I anticipated ... greasy and decent tasting ... but for some reason I thought it wasn't worth the little money I paid for it. Maybe it was an off day, but I didn't really "get it". |
rodneys oyster house hands down they have the best raw oysters and such a great selection of different sauces to put on it and the waiter can reccomend wat sauce to put with what oyster the fanny bay oysters are huge there and taste great |
Ya, I'm going to go to Rodey's soon. Been so busy. btw, anyone know where to buy a good Oyster knife for shucking? |
+1 For Joe Fortes. Me and the wife have gone there and their seafood is solid. Havent been to Rodneys Oyster shack yet, but reviews seem like they rock too. Thats probably next on the list for me. |
What are the prices? |
joe fortes for fresh oysters. been to rodney's, its ok too, they make a pretty good caesar. the BEST time of the year for oysters are during the fall to winter season, September, October, November, December. Just remember the months that end in BER and your set. |
Ok, so where are the good fried oysters? |
