If the written test is all youve done, youll most likely be starting at either the test again, or the package. Either way, youre not ahead much.

is this going to happen again this year?

johny 02-10-2010 07:18 PM

well as an update I wrote the rpat yesterday for the heck of it. was told Ottawa isn't even bothering to mark the tests right now. and I might get the results back in 3-4 months... and lucky candidates are closer to the 18 month mark right now.

seekerbeta 02-10-2010 08:28 PM

my RPAT took 8 weeks to mark

Olympics right now are slowing everything right down. Not only due to Olympic postings, but the extra workload on those left behind...and the time off that will be taken after it's over...plus lots of retirements too. Senior Members are pulling the plug after this is over.

true that the VPD or RCMP is taking people with prior criminal records because they are so short staffeD

seekerbeta 02-12-2010 11:39 AM

id go with yes, as long as they are either pardoned, or have something that the RCMP can use.

any ppl still or new to the application with the rcmp? waiting for my interview as i handed my selection package way back in march!.. had the pre poly phoen interview to clarify a few things.. said i would get a call for an interview in 2-3 months.. it is close to 7 months later....

sho_bc 09-28-2010 08:29 AM

I would get in touch with your recruiting contact. You may have a long wait ahead of you. An 18 month wait from start to finish wasn't uncommon even when I started my application (2006).

They're only sending a total of 10 troops through Depot next year and there were only 6 troops on base in August when I dropped by for a visit. Things have ground to a screeching halt, with similar number of applicants as previously, but 5 times fewer spots available (there were ~50 troops on base at a time when I went through).

yea i figured it would take a while. i figure i will have my chance to reapply with the vpd next summer before i get much further with the rcmp.

i did call my fc. a couple times to confirm my address change. she has yet to call me back. this was 2 months ago.

You would think they learned from last time when they almost shut Depot down and the problems that caused...also hearing rumours that they are going back to the "quota system" for recruiting. What's that quote about repeatedly doing something stupid and expecting a different result??

is it true u cant be a cop if u dont have 20/20 vision??

sho_bc 09-28-2010 12:28 PM

I have several opinions on the matter that basically come down to hoping they hire competent and able members, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity.

There is a minimum you have to meet for vision requirements. I'm not sure what that is anymore. It might be on the recruiting information page of the RCMP's website.

Spidey 09-28-2010 01:55 PM

www.rcmp.ca will answer all yoru questions gdoh.

[QUOTE=Bainne;7123559]As in the women/minority quota?

Used to be required percentages of recruits, visible minorities, gender, language, education...white unilingual males were 5%.
