| Components speakers
I noticed that the Alpine Type-s component speakers don't have a cross over unit to block lower freqs to the tweeter like many other component systems.
The question is, because there is no cross over unit, will possibility of the tweeters blowing be greater?
i was lookin into upgrading my speakers and wanted some speakers that can handle midbass better. Just picked up a 4 channel 600watt jbl amp.

i beleive they have a inline crossover network configuration, wont be able to tune much compared to a set that has actual crossovers
(tweeter level etc).
You wont blow them any quicker, jsut make sure you dont distort/clip them, and have your deck settings correct doesnt hurt.

if this is the speaker you have, the "crossover" is the black capacitor you see to the left of the speaker terminal.

And how is your xover busted? If it's just a bad capacitor you can just replace it. If the whole circuit board is messed then thats another story.
Main Electronics or RP Electronics is a good place to start

thats im not too sure. Now I would assume one of the capactior is bulging or something but I haven't had time to look at it. I know though that the speaker does not work beause of hte presence of it. I do want to buy a proper crossover but I'm not sure where to buy it. I haved searched on futureshop.ca and such and all I could find are complete sets.

A crossover for a $250 pair of speakers usually runs $50-80 each.
Futureshop doesn't sell parts. So you're on your own to find any sort of replacement parts or servicing down the road. If there's no huge demand for it, FS won't cater to you. That's the downfall for big box stores. They don't look after you once they've sold you something.
