We told Telus to take a hike years ago. We have Shaw Digital Phone / Digital Cable with HD and Shaw-Extreme 1 with Power Boost. We will never go back. Speeds never slow down around here. We get 10mb sustained and 25mb peak download speeds. Even my torrents come in at 1000+ kBps. (1hr movie takes 15 mins to download from a good tracker) Our phone is actually clearer on Digital vs the old Telus system.

Just as a cautionary note. Talk to the people that live close to you. Although Shaw will always beat out Telus in available bandwidth, it can really be dependent on your location. If one company has a better line than the other it can make a hell of a difference.

That's so true MAN. I have shaw extreme-I w/ power boost.
Back when I was living in da house, it often went over 30mb/s with close to 5 ping. Now I'm living in apartment, I'll be lucky if i get over 5mb/s with over 200+ ping. shaw sucks in apartment, get telus.

shaw is the way to go bud. ive used shaw internet for 6 years, tv for 3, and phone for 1.

all really good. though there may be some interference with some tv channels when the weather is shit. Good service too, if your equipment isnt working, they will replace it for you for free. =)

I work with Telus and I install TTV and trust me, I rather go with Shaw. I had two customers complaining that the picture is alot better with Shaw than Telus and cancelled their service right after I installed their TTV. As for the internet, you don't have to be close to a Telus CO in order to get good speed and it's pretty stable. You can get good speed if you're ~< 1.2km away from a SAC (a telephone box on a street) with ADSL ports.

Answering your questions:
1. Shaw TV is better than TTV

2. I believe Shaw support is better than Telus because Telus customer service is in the Phillippians and you can be on hold for hours some times.

3. You don't need Telus Internet or Telus homephone in order to get TTV (but they will try to make you get at least one of the two before getting TTV). Here's a little secret that I'm not suppose say, if you get TTV alone, you get internet and phone but Telus will not tell you that you have either one. You won't know the phone number because it will show as 'Private Number' if you try to make a phone call out to anyone with Caller ID. The only way for you to know the phone number is to get it from the installer or dial a 'ANI' number that will tell you the phone number.

4. Telus internet is pretty stable but smaller bandwidth than Shaw. If your neighborhood is all using Shaw internet, then your speed maybe affected because Shaw bandwidth is shared between each user. If I had the choice, I would go with Shaw Xtreme just because it's about >300kb/s faster sometimes than Telus Xtreme. But I'm still pretty happy with my ADSL from Telus.

Overall, I would say Shaw has a better service unless you get TTV alone and find out the phone number.

If you're living in a house, probably better to stick with Shaw.

My parents have Telus TV and Internet at home, and the surfing experience definitely did seem to suffer when the TV service was being used, since they give higher priority to the TV stream packets.

However, I live in an apartment that Telus wired with fibre, so I'm quite satisfied with the service... quite reliable service, even with the HD channels.

your an idiot, Dont say shit you obviously dont know about.

Novus doesnt "use" Shaw for thier ISP service. Novus does connect to "Big Pipe" but so does every other major ISP and datacenter in the north west.

Novus is a proprietary system for fiber ran into multi apartment condo's in the downtown hub.

In the lower mainland novus is #1 in regards of internet, shaw coming up a close second.
