Best Wheel Mounting Hey everyone, Just bought a set of OZ Ultra Leggeras for my 1.7 and im looking for a place to get the tires mounted. Recommendations please!!! I need to mount both 15 and 17" tires. All I know is that Advance is $15 for 16" and under $20 for 17" and also $5 for tire removal. |
do not cheap out. you value ur wheels? you value if they get scratched? vendors on here that advertise their quality and the machines they use, advertise them for a REASON. and that price is pretty damn good. kaltire charges 19 bucks for 16" rims. |

I've had 3 sets of wheels mounted at Advance, never a problem. Kal and Fountain tire always managed to ding the lip. However, I only took my shitty wheels there. |
i did my winters at volco. it only cost me 40 bucks. but they managed to break my side skirt putting them on my car. i cost me 70 to fix it. fuck. advance is expensive. but u get for what u pay. |
thing is i already have my tires on my ultraleggeras how i need to get my winter tires off my steelies and have them put onto my stock acura 1.7 rims which are mint, still debating whether to spend more at advance or cheap it out cause its for my stock rims |
wat? u are switching over already? not a good idea my friend |
well what happens is that i got my new rims, got excited and decided to put them on for a couple of days. yes i know theres potholes but i just had to =] and now since i have them on i want to take the winter tires i previously had on (with steelies) and now change them over to my stock rims then after i would change back to winter tires (with stock rims) |
go with advance they know what they are doing and they offer rs discount =D i heading over there tmr to pick up some stuff |
does advances price include balancing and putting the wheels back on the car? i'd think so but just wanted to make sure cause that's a killer deal. |
so i just tell them im rs forum member and ask for discount? sounds sweet including balancing would be nice too |

why dont you call and ask? phones were long invented before the internet. |
will do soon =] ill post when i findout |
updates? |
kal-tire is as good as cambodian tire i would only trust them with a rusted out 14" wheel |
Its not the machine they use, Its the person using it? Do you trust that kid working on your rims. My 2 cents. |
So how good is the deal at advance? |
fucking bastards across the border at les schwab ripped me off.. the guy said I had "special" rims that required a different mounting procedure that would cost $20 more, (i bet its cuz i was canadian).. so i watched when a tire guy put them on.. and the special procedure was none other then spinning the wheel and using a bar to put the tire on... fucking assholes. |
^ you have to do that if the tire has a stiff sidewall, or else it is way to hard to put the top part on. but yea, u did get ripped off. they shouldn't charge you more for that, it has to be done. |

We've got 2 tire machines at work, and the supposedly "better" machine, which is far more advanced than the our other machine, sucks crap for stiff sidewalls and runflats. The new machine is great for regular tires, on and off really fast, no damage. The old machine is the best for stiff tires. Not as fast for regular tires, but great for stiff tires, which the new machine can't even do without it being a fight. |
there are a lot of tricks i learned when i used that machine. i didnt dare do any real low pro's, but with guidance, i mounted my 245/30/20s. i shat bricks the whole way through. so many determining factors. is the wheel a reverse mount? does the drum design allow for easy tire install? is the tire stretched? what brand of tire is it? even the temperature of the tire helps a lot too! like i said in another post kal tire charges $19 per wheel/tire to mount n balance (this is for 16in wheel/tire) advance charges $15 per wheel/tire to mount n balance. So you still think Advance is expensive when they are using the top of the line corghi machine??? there is a reason why local dealers and other shops even ask advance to mount and balance. man i loved using that bead blaster, scars the shit out of everyone that doesnt have ear muffs on. i still cover my ears everytime i wait for the tire to "pop" when inflating, hahahaha. |
ill mount your tires for a case of beer. not responsible for any damages! |
