Seized Nut Cap on a B18B Valve Cover
 

The torque wrench did not “click” while I was turning the nut caps on. I thought the nut cap was still loose so I kept turning it.

However I noticed that I seized the nut cap that it didn’t raise up even I turn the other way.

Is it recommended to remove them by heating them with a torch?

get some vice grips clamp it on. pull up while unscrewing. if it moves up a little stick a flat screwdriver under it, and pry it up while you pull and unscrew.

I have brand new studs and nuts ready now...

lol wow, you and I had the same problem on the same day. I discovered that the one closest to the dizzy was stripped...Then wouldnt go on or off...I used a screwdriver and a buddy cranked and eventually it came off.

Damn tose weak assed studs...

where are you going to cut the stud out?

note valve cove bolts should be tightend with the shortest sockt wrench you got. they dont need to be super tight, just snug. the valve cover gasket will keep tension on them.

oh and anytime you take a nut off anywhere on your car, cvoat the bolt in anti-seize lube.

I forget the torque spec is in/lbs but its it super low.It not even hand tight, if you over torque the nuts your also have a chance of your valve cover leaking.

8-10 ft/lbs (figher tight) or 100-120 in/lbs
