Lego-ing it out to Science World display

I was overcome by a bout of fatherly nostalgia yesterday when I heard of Science World's newest display, a travelling exhibition entitled Wheels, Wings and Waves: A Lego History of Transportation. There is nothing like the exquisite pain of stepping barefoot on a Lego brick while making a midnight run to the bathroom: The memory stays with you. All those years ago! My beautiful little boys asleep in their beds! Their minefield of bricks seeding the darkened hallway. The faint scar on my forehead has yet to fade.

I went to Science World, and there was the Lego display, and there were plenty of children looking at it, agog. It was comforting, their agog-ness. Here are some interesting bricks of information I learned:

- According to the sign beside a giant two-metre-long re-creation of the Titanic, it took 399 hours to build the model and "approximately" 27,608 Lego bricks in its construction. It would be hard to imagine how you could get less approximate than 27,608, but there you are. The display of the Titanic is of the great ship starting out on its fateful voyage, pulling away from its pier while accompanied by two attentive little tugs. The moment of its doom, where it is to be split in two by the iceberg-like force of a child's tantrum, is still in its future..........

I wouldn't have the patience for all that plugging and all that playing.

Woah you were deprived! Good thing you're making up for lost time and enjoying LEGO now.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you, btw?
