Tried to use partition magic 8 on my C

drive to create an extra partition. During around 50% it encountered an error, and had to reboot. Now the computer only reboots up to the windows splash screen, then fails, and goes into safe mode prompt where it gives you the options of booting windows in safe mode, safe mode w/networking, safe mode w/command prompt, or normally. I've tried every option, and it just reboots and goes back to this same screen.
I'm Running Win XP Home SP3. I did not create a recovery disc from PM8 or WinXP backup. Only recovery disc is my original CD that came with the laptop, which essentially means I have to do a full format/install.
Question is, anyway I can boot back into Windows so I can pull data off my HDD before a fresh install? Besides physically pulling the HDD out from the laptop and hooking it up to an external.
Thanks
