Recovering from failed partition magic?

Tried to use partition magic 8 on my C drive to create an extra partition. During around 50% it encountered an error, and had to reboot. Now the computer only reboots up to the windows splash screen, then fails, and goes into safe mode prompt where it gives you the options of booting windows in safe mode, safe mode w/networking, safe mode w/command prompt, or normally. I've tried every option, and it just reboots and goes back to this same screen.

I'm Running Win XP Home SP3. I did not create a recovery disc from PM8 or WinXP backup. Only recovery disc is my original CD that came with the laptop, which essentially means I have to do a full format/install.

Question is, anyway I can boot back into Windows so I can pull data off my HDD before a fresh install? Besides physically pulling the HDD out from the laptop and hooking it up to an external.

Thanks

Pulling the hard drive out is the safest thing to do. Anything else, runs a higher risk of losing data. If the partitions are not intact, you may have difficulties seeing anything.

Hmm... no way of obtaining a WinXP Home CD? I would probably want to do a repair installation of WinXP.

Do a repair installation with the Windows XP CD (This will keep the data intact) - DO NOT CHOOSE FORMAT. - you would then need to re-partition again.
