Subs arent loud...

I've been using 2 cvr1207's in a ported box and it shakes my air freshener quite rapidly, nice solid bass. I than hooked up 2 visonik 10's in a dual slot ported box and its not nearly as loud. The bass sounds "clean" but they just dont pound like they should. I THINK they are dual 2-0hm but i'm only using 1 coil on each at the moment. Is it that my amplifier is underpowered or I should be using both coils. My cvr's are wired like this. Im running a Pioneer 800W Class D Mono Amplifier (GM-D7400M) Can anyone tell what model these are? The models all look the same and the only marking on the woofers are (2002-02)

You need to hook up both voice coils.

You should hook up the sub's other voice coils as well. You will need to hook them up in series/parallel to give that amp a 2 ohm load. Thats the most you'll be able to get out of them.

Make sure you test the impedence on the subs before you do anything though. 2 ohm DVC is ideal.

I was having trouble testing impedance. I used my ohm-meter and every setting on the meter showed up as a big fat "0" Both wired together gave me a "3"... I must be doing something wrong.

This guide is pretty handy if you want to wire up your subs in series/parallel. Check out the 2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel which is 2nd from the top on the left hand side:

turns out they are 6ohm, spent a hour at andres kelowna figuring it out. Wired them up in series (i think) and for whatever reason the total ohmage is now 2ohm which dosnt make sense for 6ohm subs. Anyways they are about the same loudness as the 2 kickers... but they are definitely underpowered. Not bad for 2-10's tho. Bigger amp and I should be happy with them. If anything... they arent as ugly as the kickers... just a stupid name
