Yes to the second. It's making me sound more intelligent on RS by spell-checking my posts.

sorry to hear that.... unfortunately dead pixels are an "acceptable" flaw in lcd technology according to manufacturers. unless you get a few more around the edges or just on in the middle then you will have to live with it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1721 |

I've had mixed success with fixing those "dead" pixels. Does it show a solid color? Or is it dead black? If it's a solid color you can get a program that will flash your screen different colors. I don't understand why it works on some and not on other LCD's. But, it's an option you may want to try.

Dead pixels are not normal. I've gone through a hundred LCDs from Dell, and not one has a dead or hot pixel. My personal LCDs never had any dead pixels either. Dead pixels are not the norm, but manufacturers like to save money and tell users that it's perfectly normal to have some dead pixels... bullshit.

Originally Posted by Armind How come whenever I download new songs off the net, it automatically adds and plays on my damn iTUNES? It's pretty damn annoying argh.. | Either two reasons... Itunes is your default audio player (factory default) or you are using limewire (shame on u, there are much better ways to get music).
To change your default audio player u must download VLC media player and install it (just dragging the app to your applications folder). Then find an mp3 file and right click and choose get info. There's a section that says open with, change from iTunes to vlc, then press do this for all files of this type. Now do this for other music formats like m4a, wma, m3u.
iTunes is awesome as a music library and jukebox for music that u add to it by dragging and dropping. It's not good as a media player though. Use vlc to play music and I u want to keep it then drag it to iTunes and iTunes will copy the file to your iTunes library. U can now delete the originalfile and use iTunes to properly tag the song.
Quicktime is an awesome video player but it doesn't play certain formats like divx, xvid, mkv, etc. It's interface and feature set is much better than vlc but it needs plugins to play these files. Download flip4mac and perian to allow QuickTime to player any type of video. Oh yeah, by default mp4 video files open with iTunes, change that to QuickTime.
Also if u happen to be using limewire please stop and consider using blogs and forums and torrents, they are much better... Or switch to frostwire, it's a free limewire client alternative. Either way using lime or frost there is a feature that ties into iTunes. Go to the settings for the app and turn off iTunes integration.

Flip4Mac + Perian still sucks compared to K-Lite. Codec packs for Macs suck balls.

For MAC (and that is what THIS thread is about), Flip4mac and Perian work wonders. They play 99% of content that I throw at it. Yes K-Lite works very well for Windows but that's the topic of a different thread.

Thanks! I'm not using Limewire or any programs anyways. Just downloading straight from blogs etc
Theres a problem when I tried listening to a playlist (imeem) off of a blogsite. Everytime I wanna listen to the next song it just stops playing. But when I refresh, I was able to forward to the next songs on the playlist and listen to it but the same problem occurs after that! Is it a safari or flash problem? Hmm i is noob!

any USB 2.0 hub will do the job, basically get whatever is the best deal. 7 port hubs are now affordable, also if you dont need to travel with the hub then make sure you get a powered hub. take a look at these... http://ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=1025 |

Here's a little wiki info on USB hubs...
A bus-powered hub is a hub that draws all its power from the host computer's USB interface. It does not need a separate power connection. However, many devices require more power than this method can provide, and will not work in this type of hub.
In contrast a self-powered hub is one that takes its power from an external power supply unit and can therefore provide full power (up to 500mA) to every port. Many hubs can operate as either bus powered or self powered hubs.
... if you use a lot of devices that draw power from USB (card readers, cell phones, iPods, flash drives, hard drives, etc.) then you might want to consider a self-powered USB hub.
