| what do i need to make my PC wireless?
just bought a router and i want to make my computer have a wireless internet connection. What do i need to do that and how much will it cost?

What wireless standard is your router compatible with?
All you need is a wireless network adapter for your computer. You can either get one that uses the PCI or USB connection, depending on your preference.

if the comptuer is near the router, just run a wire. cheaper and better.

im not sure what my standard is i have the linksy wrt54gl router,where is the cheapest place to get on? ncix? my computer isnt near the router its downstairs, the wire is my temp solution for now.

up and downstairs can be a little bit tricky as GL is not exactly known as having strong signal

Yeah, if it's one floor and the distance between your PC and router isn't that far, you should be okay... but if it's at the other end of the house, or it's two floors away, the connection could be a little sketchy.

I would also suggest to go with a usb wireless receiver, as they're much easier to work with and countless times easier to install (put in disc, connect usb when prompted, done).
