Oh man, they are so comfy.
The demo pair they have at the store is so soft and supple. Like a glove should be. But these were out of their stock room, so when I first put them on they felt a bit off.

I've played twice with them now, and they're breaking in well. Too bad I'm in net this afternoon, or else I'd be out there playing with them while wearing my vintage repro Rangers jersey.
:D

As for Voracek, it's so sad to see such a fine auto destroyed.

Quote:

Philadelphia Flyers winger Jakub Voracek had some good fortune this season, scoring 22 goals (a career best) and winning the Bobby Clarke Trophy as team MVP.

For his sake, it’s good to see that fortune has apparently extended to the offseason.

According to Sport.cz, Voracek “mishandled” his Ferrari on Wednesday morning in Kladno of his native Czech Republic and crashed into a tree.

According to Sporttovni Noviny, Voracek “was driving too fast for a truck that wanted to turn and did not stop in time” and that the “luxury car then crashed into the left side of the truck, drove off the road, where it hit a power line pole and tree."

Damage to the car is estimated at $147,715 US.

Voracek was given a breathalyzer test on-site, but told Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly:

"All good bud. No injuries, no alcohol."

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren released the following statement:

“I spoke with Jake this morning. He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine.”

As The Phanatic notes, anytime you hear “car crash” and “Flyers” it immediately conjures some disturbing history. Glad to hear Jake is OK.

This is the truck he hit.

and this is what's left of his car.

Thanks man, and that's good to hear.
I'm really loving gear made in Canada. My Reebok (Lefevre) pro pads are amazing. I've been looking into some new Graf skates, as they're highly touted by skaters. Canadians definately know their hockey equipment.

I DID get them used, but the guy used them twice for stick and puck, and that's about it. The thing came looking so fresh, there were literally 4 puck marks on both the units combined. Hell. The tag was still on it and the closure wasn't even fully worn in yet LOL.

RBK 18K Blocker and trapper. The trapper being a goaliemonkey special with the pro-palm build. I was taking slappers all morning at stick and puck with no ill effects =D

brand new they were about $500 new tax in. I got mine for about $250 plus shipping ($28) =D
Not QUITE half price....but really....pretty much is.

I was looking at the larceny pros....didn't have the colour I wanted, and I don't like the catcher that much. Also wanted to try a 1 piece as well (Which I ended up liking a lot)
And it's not $350...more like $500.

If you can live with the white/red/black New Reebok Larceny Pro Goalie Blocker Glove Set Catcher LH Senior Red SR Reg | eBay

Regardless you got a pretty sweet deal on your setup. I'd rather buy a few times used and save $100 any day of the week.

BallPeenHammer2 05-28-2013 08:47 AM

WOW! holy crap!!!

I woulda got that if it wasn't for the dislike on the glove =\

dhari 05-30-2013 07:12 AM

Yesterday I went and got some sticks from the Canucks proshop on Renfrew and Hastings.
I picked up a Derek Roy Easton Stealth RS for $80 and an Alex Bolduc Rbk 11k for $40. Killer deals. Still lots left. Sale ends tomorrow.

Both are used and both are 85 flex.
You are correct, not many RH sticks but a tonne of 100flex ones.

Kilinim 05-30-2013 05:15 PM

Thanks for the heads up Dhari. Picked up a couple Tanev 20k's. Fyi Spidey, Tanev 20k's are 85 flex.

how much and do you have pics of the curve? Im pretty picky when it comes to flex and curve... 85 is the limit for me with respect to flex.

mickz 05-30-2013 07:37 PM

Tanev uses an 85 flex Sakic, same with Pinnizzotto.

Weise uses a 90-95 flex Drury. Bieksa 102-107 flex heel wedge, Kesler 77-87 flex P92 variation, Lapierre 100-110 flex, Hansen 95 flex, Kassian 102 flex.

Kilinim 05-30-2013 07:56 PM

Mickz is correct. Tanev/Pinizzotto look to be Sakics. Be wary of Pinizzotto TotalOne's though, I had a brand new one break mid shaft my first game with it.

^ if that's true then no thanks to any of those except maybe kesler's but those are probably never in the bunch for sale. I might as well stick to base and keep using their hossa curves, until they finally reveal their kovy clone

mickz 05-30-2013 09:01 PM

I'd be weary of any used stick as I've seen tons of damaged sticks at those equipment sales over the years. Sometimes you're lucky enough to see the cracks but sometimes it's hidden internally and you've just picked up an unlucky stick.

The only other Canuck in recent memory to use a RH low flex was Hodgson, 82 flex. A couple guys used 87 but the majority of RH players were 95 flex and up.

They sell Kesler sticks but they're priced like memorabilia, $200+. Not worth it if you just want to use it, might as well pay a bit more and get a retail stick with warranty.

kristianhay 05-30-2013 09:39 PM

If you guys are looking for prostock sticks, I would suggest hitting up The Sports Exchange on Burrard or check out this website http://www.sports2k.com/forum/

Both sell prostock sticks and are much cheaper than retail!

Nvasion 05-31-2013 04:10 PM

how longs the sale at the proshop?
