Canto-pop star Edison Chen is slated to testify in Vancouver Monday on a sex-photo scandal that has rocked the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

Hong Kong paparazzi are flooding the city to track the superstar, who is expected to appear in B.C. Supreme Court tomorrow to give commissioned evidence.

The pop star is testifying under Hong Kong law.

His evidence will be used against Sze Ho-Chun, the computer technician in Hong Kong who allegedly distributed photos across the Internet of Chen engaged in sex acts with a string of female starlets.

The Vancouver-born actor has refused to return to Hong Kong to testify, according to the South China Morning Post.

A team of five, including lawyers and a magistrate, are flying to Vancouver for the hearing, all paid for by the Hong Kong Department of Justice, reports the Post.

The costly hearing is causing quite a controversy in Hong Kong with one politician calling it an “expensive and luxurious” excercise when Chen could simply testify by video-link, according to the Post.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Elaine Adair will preside at the public hearing as commissioner.
