Two women are dead after an horrific traffic accident early Sunday morning on Nordel Way in Delta.

Delta Police Const. Sharlene Brooks said a car travelling westbound on Nordel Way crossed the centre line into the path of an eastbound vehicle and was struck broadside at around 12:50 a.m. The westbound vehicle was completely demolished by the impact.

Both of its occupants, a 22-year-old woman from Surrey and a 23-year-old woman from North Delta, died at the scene.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to hospital for medical treatment and was released.

"Initial indicators are that speed was definitely a contributing factor. With respect to anything else such as road conditions, mechanics, alcohol involvement or driver experience, those are things that will be forming part of our investigation," said Brooks.

Police did not release the names of the victims pending notification of next of kin, she added.

Nordel Way was closed for around 12 hours following the accident.

shit...that sucks, one minute everything is fine and the next minute many lives will change. Drive safe people!

tonyvu 02-23-2009 01:41 AM

yea... it's not worth it to speed; you'll get there eventually but make sure you actually make it there....

HonestTea 02-23-2009 01:58 AM

Fuck...HORRIBLE!

RIP :(

moomooCow 02-23-2009 02:03 AM

Atleast the driver of the vehicle that was going the other way is fine.

chouchou 02-23-2009 07:25 AM

^two people died... he's (unharmed victim) is probably going to be feeling guilty for the rest of a life if he has the decency and morals the rest of us do. he's definitely NOT going to be fine.

pending the investigations, things can get much worse for him if its determined that his reckless driving proved to be the reason why the accident happened. fines, jail time, license revocation.. only time will tell.

RIP to those who passed, though. and yes - speeding is just asking for your life to be handed to those who will soon be grieving. no point - you'll get there eventually. just like tony vu said, jus tmaek sure you do =\

I think the article said that the guy wasnt the one who crossed the line, it was the girls who crossed the line and hit the gentlemen. I dont think he'll feel guilty about it since he didnt do anything wrong, according to the article, but im sure he feels traumatized.

winks 02-23-2009 07:56 AM

ya they showed the pics of the girls on tv but didn't release names yet

hotjoint 02-23-2009 08:35 AM

damn rip, slow down guys

quasi 02-23-2009 10:10 AM

Names were in the paper this morning. Annie Nijjar and Mindy Sahota.

boibuddha 02-23-2009 10:26 AM

I drive this road almost everyday and I can see how westbound traffic can cross the centre line. There's a tiny part near the end of that curve where you need to increase steering angle otherwise you're pushed up near the yellow line.

If alcohol was involved, someone could easily mis-judge this turn. Typical speeds around that curve are ~70-80kph. Hitting another vehicle coming in the opposite direction is like hitting a wall at 150kph, so I'm not surprised at the devastation of the accident. Cars just aren't meant to withstand that kind of impact.

RIP regardless.

that's what i interpret from the article as well... and if that is the case then those girls deserve it and i feel bad for the guy

alcohol
speeding
minimal experience

deadly combination on the road...

2damaxmr2 02-23-2009 10:41 AM

no offense or anything but two brown chicks that run into other people. that is surrey/delta for ya.

hk20000 02-23-2009 10:56 AM

yeah I got my car owned by 2 surrey girls weeks ago.

I didn't want to generalize but now that I see it they really should stick to their magic carpets.

I had my accident on Nordell way too. Bunch of fuckers shouldn't drive like they are Allah.

Roach 02-23-2009 11:34 AM

Wow, so you got hit in Surrey by brown people?

And how exactly is that different from getting hit in Richmond by Chinese people?

Seriously people, driver inexperience cannot be attributed to a single race of people. Accidents happen. No need to stoop to the level of the KKK and try to associate it with where a person is from.

Kev

PS: East Indian people don't ride magic carpets. Educate yourselves or risk being portrayed as an idiot again.

hk20000 02-23-2009 11:48 AM

Of course it makes a huge difference - in Richmond you have inexperienced Chinese C9s that move too slowly and make mistakes

in Surrey you have brown people that move too fast and make mistakes.

they are both mistakes but the outcome is very different. Chinese are really worried that they "troubled" the other party, Brown people after accidents are ugly - not like they aren't usually - but they will try to put you at fault no matter what the law system says, just to get away making a buck.

Really? I saw it on Aladdin.

Oh really? So the kid that killed Constable Jimmy Ng was moving too slowly and was worried about troubling the other party? Get your head out of your fucking ass and stop generalizing. I can bring many more examples to refute your blind generalizations.

That's like me calling a Japanese person Chinese. Or a Chinese person Vietnamese. Aladdin was middle eastern. Not East Indian.

Just shut the fuck up. Two people died. They made a mistake. Stop trying to use the situation as an opportunity to hear yourself talk.

Kev

SoulCrusher 02-23-2009 12:35 PM

Dont forget you chinese people have very small eyes and cant see shit. If you want to make unprovoked racist remarks, the mods need to do a better job to keep you mother fuckers out of these forums. Its just unfortunate the mods cant do there jobs properly or get caught up in the racist remarks themselves.

This thread was created for 2 young girls that died and in absolutely no way do we need to bring race into the picture. If they had been drinking or speeding, bash all you want. But to say that "their kind" are known to speed and cause accidents is a stupid thing to say.

Smarten up hk2000 you dumb fuck

Indeed. I can't even make out what it is.

From the wheel, I'm guessing '98-'02 Accord EX Sedan?

Unreal.

Ludepower 02-23-2009 01:33 PM

This is why I never wanted to be a fireman/poilce officer/ambulance....head is porbably chopped off...finding body parts 25 meters away..etc..nasty stuff they see.

winks 02-23-2009 01:34 PM

[IMG][/IMG]anytime anything is mentioned on this site about a non white person everyone has to pull out the race card. if all these murders weren't all white guys i am sure every second thread would be about how bad differnt races are and they should go back to their own country. it is pretty sad how ignorant people are. especially behind their computers.

these girls were someones daughters, friends, sisters, etc. rip

chouchou:
re-read article please.

All the ignorant fuckers:
But it's pretty fucking ignorant to pull the race card here. Seriously, get your head out of your ass and look at where you live. This is Vancouver, if you hate everyone else but your own race then go back to wherever the hell you came from. And if you hate everyone equally then stfu and go slit your wrists you fucking hater. God I hate racists.

Anurag 02-23-2009 03:28 PM

RIP, unfortunate knew one of the girls younger siblings
