I have them on my 3. They certainly look cool, but can be quite a headache, both in terms of installation and upkeep.

If the installation is anything like our cars, the process takes 6-8 hours if doing it yourself and requires that the bumper be taken off, the headlight housings be taken out. The housings will need to be "heated" so the glue holding the lens to the housing can come apart. Adhere the DDE rings and wire, then re-heat the housings and put back together.

I've had a lot of problems on mine with the ballasts failing. YMMV.

I was planning to get Hella Celis for my MK4 ,but they cost around 800-900 retail. Apparently PGPerformance sells them for around 1100. For that price I could get VAG OEM HID's. It's too much work for the Mk5s to "retrofit" the Angel eye "rings". The stock headlights look nice already. If you want something different, much like what "aznboi128" said. Just get the Hella dynaBeam Headlights. They're pretty awesome.

I know everyone says BMW Wannabe but I would say that it almost looks factory on this car> too much work for not being original and probably not lasting more than a month though in my opinion.....

i was thinking of picking these up when i get my gti, i think they look pretty cool, but angel eyes are a bmw thing, the gti already has hid's, and these lights are probably going to cost you around 500, imo your better off spending the money on a vortex lip kit. The stock gti headlights are already superior to the lighting systems on most cars. if you want to do something different do this:

basically what you do is buy the s6 led's for about 400, and you install them in the bumper. And vw and audi are the same company, so it works!
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4180136
read this thread also, this guy just bought a cheap strip of led's as opposed to buying the expensive s6 ones

thanks for the opinions and keeping it relatively clean everyone

http://www.tekarbon.com is where this came from. the retrofit including clearing out the signal lights is $300usd, but there is no core so they expect you to ship your existing headlights to them to do the work. 2 week turnaround incl. shipping time.

but as some have said... bmw wannabe ballast exploding money wasting mod.

get LEDs. They dun use ballast so the chance of failing is lower than the old type of angel eyes
