This is so bizzarre. Could of been an attempt to see if anyone was home for break and entry... lol

One time, this guy kept knocking on my door. I was like WTF? My parents always told me to NEVER open my door for anybody because a) if it's someone in the family, they will have the keys (too bad if you leave your keys at home) or b) if you aren't expecting anyone, then don't expect anyone to just randomly be knocking

So then I was trying to ignore it, thinking it's probably just some donation, advertisement, etc, the guy was so damn persistent. I looked outside the window and saw this minivan. He went back to his car, then 2 minutes later, came back. I was like the hell, who is this guy??

Then another few minutes, my phone rings. So I just pick up. Didn't think anything would be connected. The guy on the other side goes, hello? Hello? Hey, you're home? open the door? I'm thinknig WTF???? and I just hung up. LOL. Got so scared.

From that day on, I never answer my home phone anymore. People that need me know to call my cell or contact me on MSN.

BTW, it turned out to be some guy that mows my lawn that just wanted to talk to my parents about the bill. That was really fked up....

StylinRed 03-01-2009 01:06 AM

^^^^ lol nightmare think ur a little too scared

ive had ppl come by like at 8-10pm and say they're from Oxfam (or that other one..... wth is it called... not red cross..... but they have like an orange logo)

anyway weird ass time huh?

most of my asian friends/relatives though never ever open the door unless they know beforehand someone is coming.. and even then its like so hard to get their family members to open the door

HonestTea 03-01-2009 01:15 AM

Nvasion is right; I would've probably be like fuck off and hang up, but he knew my address/postal code/phone number and the name on the house, so I had to try to reason with him.

RRxtar: I'm going to give it a call in a day or so :)

StylinRed: I tried, it's not registered, so I'm guessing it's a cell phone. Couldn't find an address :(

Would you guys report it to the police and see what's up or just ignore it, until he calls again or tries something else?

subordinate 03-01-2009 01:24 AM

Identity theft? The caller was just confirming the details?

I'd report it.

welfare 03-01-2009 01:26 AM

wtf? why would a restaurant have your postal code?
i'd report it. it may not be anything, but if it is, police have no way of knowing if it's linked to a possible string if you don't. it may not be an isolated incident

welfare 03-01-2009 01:30 AM

if they were indeed calling to see if anybody was home, why wouldn't they just hang up after you answered? why the whole spiel? sounds like it could be some fucked up saw iv type shit goin on. i'd sleep with the ginsu by your side tonight

haha, no, normally I wouldn't give a crap. Because you ignore them and they go away. But this guy kept pounding on my door every few minutes like he's a cop or something. Then when I get the call, the shock of him knowing my number, and that he busted me hiding and not opening the door on purpose, made me freaked out. I almost wanted to call he cops.

Anurag 03-01-2009 01:52 AM

it was probably a prank call, where the guy continued to hassle you and you fell for it, its not hard getting a name, postal code, address, number off of mytelus.com or w.e

lol i usually do the same, cuz if im not expecting guest
i dont answer the door

one time i heard the door bell ring so i causally ignore it.. but this dude was persistent..for about couple of minutes he just kept ringing the door bell
i look out the window to see who the guy was and when i saw him it was this 40-50 year old man with flowers..
after leaving my yard he was looking around the neighborhood .and he just walked across the street.. and laid down the flowers on the steps of the house across from me

i was like..weirrrd..

miss_crayon 03-01-2009 02:20 AM

i'd give them a call tomorrow instead of waiting monday. i mean why wait right? especially if someone is out to scam/something you and is aware of all your information

the acts occurred then as well. the only thing that's changed is the mindset of the people
everything has to be prevented these days. it's taken all the fun out of everything

sometimes i want to walk down that dark alley late at night just to see what happens. a little adrenalin fun might be a good time. and i mean hey, if something bad is going to happen to you, its going to happen to you whether you lock yourself in your basement, or walk around harlem with an "i hate niggers" sign around your neck. when your time comes, your times up no matter what you do. its ridiculous to be terrified of your own shadow.

HonestTea 03-01-2009 03:02 PM

Lol, what should I say to them when I call?

welfare 03-01-2009 04:01 PM

just tell them exactly what happened. tell them you just thought it was kinda fishy and that you felt you should report it, just in case there had been other occurrences

HonestTea 03-01-2009 04:41 PM

Oh I mean, calling the number that called me and not the police

CRS 03-01-2009 05:43 PM

Tell them that you're looking for tiffany.

He'll say you're calling the wrong number and then you'll know.

soymilk 03-01-2009 05:55 PM

Was it Lougheed Wonton Restaurant? My dad owns the restaurant. I'm pretty sure there's no one called Kenneth that works there. FML

P 03-03-2009 08:51 PM

updates?

HonestTea 03-03-2009 09:29 PM

soymilk: nope

Updates:

Well, my Uncle called them today and this is what happened

Call #1: "Hello, I'd like to order Chinese Food..." They hung up right away, not even "no/yes/fuck off etc"

Call #2: "I'd like to Order Chinese Food.." Hung up instantly again

Call #3: "Stop hanging up Asshole..I want to order Chinese Food.."

FINALLY they respond: "We don't make Chinese food here..." Then they hung up..

He heard about 3-5 guys in the background and we "investigated" a bit and found out the cell phone is registered in Delta, I think..?

I'm going to give the police a call tonight or tomorrow afternoon and report it. It doesn't hurt right? Better to be safe then sorry.

So the number is "604-717-3321" the non-emergency police line right?

LOL, reminds me of what happened just a while after someone tried to break into my home (and that happened a while after someone broke into my car, my cousin's car as it was parked outside my house, and my neighbour's car across the street, etc)

I was sitting at my desk when I noticed something moving outside. I looked, and there was this dude creeping around the back yard!

So I got up, grabbed a tire iron, and ran at him fully intending to cave his skull in. At that point, after all those robberies and violations, I didn't give a shit.

Amazingly he didn't run away. He just said that he was someone from BC Hydro, checking our meter. He didn't look like a disgusting sketchy thief so I believed him :)
