Depends on how you use it. It's true that it's an incredible way to keep updated, especially on current events and stuff like that. Remember the Mumbai Gunmen? It's because Twitter is searchable.

Then again, there is a lot of garbage on there too: "OH HAI I JUS BRUSHED MY TEEF."

-_-

I'm the only one out of all my friends that on twitter. They don't understand why I'm on twitter but not on FB. I tell them that use it primarily to keep updated with news and stuff. Then they tell me that I could use RSS feeds for that. I never caught on to RSS feeds, that's why I don't use it. They just think it's all about status updates and lame stuff like that.

I narrate my life on Twitter. It's fun.

Twitter back on the Rogers and Fido network

Quote:

Rogers Wireless and Fido customers will once again be able to send and receive Twitter text updates thanks to an announcement by the wireless services today.

SMS updates were available for Canadian wireless users until last November when the San Francisco-based micro-blogging company Twitter announced high costs were forcing it to end the service in many countries including Canada.

Bell Mobility was the first Canadian carrier to see the service restored for its customers. At the time Rogers and Fido users could update their Twitter status but they couldn't receive updates - known as tweets - from their Twitter network.

Starting today Rogers and Fido customers will be able to send and receive updates by text message using the short code 21212.

While Bell initially introduced the Twitter service at a premium cost, later removing that in the face of an outcry from customers, Rogers and Fido are offering the service as part of their standard text packages. Outgoing tweets will count as one message in a text messaging plan while messages that are not included in a plan cost 15 cents each,

Rogers and Fido customers will also have access to all Twitter functions including the ability to add new people to their network and reply to updates. They can also choose to receive updates from a select group of people among those they follow instead of receiving updates from everyone on their Twitter network.

The change primarily affects wireless users who don't already access Twitter using their Blackberry, iPhone or other smartphone that lets them keep up with the service through a variety of Web-enabled applications.

Update:

I emailed Telus spokesman Shawn Hall to ask if Telus Mobility would be following with Twitter SMS anytime soon. His response:

"Nothing I can say on that today, I'm afraid."

I can't see Telus leaving it that way for long.
