IOUSA the Movie

Only 30 minutes and it's great if you like history, and to get an idea of where the US is headed.... and where they will drag us to, as well!

I am far, far from an expert, but if I am not mistaken, the US is our biggest trading partner, and has incredible influence on our government.

Whatever happens in the US will affect us, undoubtedly, but to what degree?

Invest in gold, anyone?

I'd like to get a serious discussion going, especially from anyone who is well educated in economics. I'd like to get a clearer picture of what we can expect over the next 10 years. My understanding is that housing prices will continue to fall in the US and Canada, the dollar will tank, and there will be a wealthy class, a poor class, and a slave class emerging in the next decade.

When the US sneezes, the whole world gets a flu. Since Canada piggy backs on the US like there's not tomorrow, what we we have currently is expected.

The market has been sideways from the 1930s-early 1940's, 1960's-early 1980's. What we're seeing right now is another expected sideways trend in the market. This has been expected after the market dip in 2007. Some might even stretch it out and say that we've entered the sideways trend after the .com bubble burst. Don't be surprised if your investments do not increase in value in the next 5 years.

I don't know about a "slave" class per se. But we are seeing a lot of "educated poor" class members - meaning, meaning a lot individuals in the workforce with post secondary degrees are becoming poor. Quite the epidemic for taking the supposed "safe" route of going to school to better your future.

Damn I'm so ADHD today I can't stop replying!

I think the illegal aliens right now are basically the slave class, they do work for like $2 an hour, and it's not like there are a few of them, we're talking about millions and millions of people working for a daily wage that 90% of revscene members make in an hour.

This movie really details the current conditions and the future the us is headed towards. However to all those that seem to think that Canada is the U.S.' bitch and we are nothing without them, I would like to know why you think that?

At the end of the day, Canada is an exporting country. The US is obviously our bread and butter, but the hope was that if the US goes down, we can go to other buyers. The problem now is that the rest of the world seems to be taking a dip as well, and overall there just aren't enough buyers for our products.

Europe could emerge as the new superpower, but they already have their suppliers lined up. Our main hope was to sell to expanding markets in China and India, but they, like us, are tied to the US.

If the US was to actually collapse (which I find highly doubtful), my personal opinion is that Canada would take a definite standard-of-living hit, but wouldn't devolve into a third world country or anything. We may have to sell our resources for a lot cheaper, but as long as the world needs oil, paper, and very soon, fresh water, Canada will have something to make money on.
