Torontonian caught doing 250 km/h faces charges, $10K fine One man faces stunt driving charges and a possible $10,000 fine after police say they clocked a motorist at 250 km/h early Tuesday morning. The Toronto man was travelling southbound on Highway 400, just south of Steeles Avenue, at about 12:30 a.m. when his Infiniti G35 allegedly registered a speed of 250 km/h on an Ontario Provincial Police laser gun. According to police, the driver “had the pedal to the floor.” “I actually checked the specs on that car,” Sgt. Gerry Lannigan said. “That was as fast as that car can go.” Police were able to pull the driver over after registering his car on the radar gun from 600 metres away, giving them time to pull their cruisers out in front of the car and force the driver to pull over. Sgt. Lannigan said the driver gave no excuse for travelling at such a dangerous speed, but admitted he'd made a mistake. “He knew he was cooked. He apologized to the officer and just sat there kind of stunned, realized he did something stupid,” he said. The 26-year-old man now faces one charge of stunt driving under the Highway Safety Act, which carries a fine ranging anywhere between $2,000 and $10,000. In addition, his driver's licence was suspended and car seized for seven days. He's due to appear in court April 8. © Copyright (c) The Province |
why not torontonion |
huh^ lol saw this on the g forums, aparantly the guy is a member and even made a thread about being chocked cuz his cars gone he had winter tires on aparantly and the road conditions were below freezing? |
Get a V1 and there should not be any problem? or unless he could be notify by V1 and slow down a bit from 250kph before getting cooked? http://www.valentine1.com/images/v1homephoto.gif http://www.valentine1.com/images/compare_b2.gif |

choked? u had it coming buddy |
pedal to the metal.. lol.. i guess he doesn't have the money for that anymore after the fines.. gas doesn't come cheap... |
he should be lucky his tires survived lol... last i checked, most snow tires weren't rated for those speeds. |
Performance snow tires will do 250 all day That guys got bawwlllss |
balls and no fear of death |
the title was misleading. It says 2000 to 10,000. |
hope he gets the $10k fine. even better if he has to sell his car to pay the fine. we don't need idiots like that on the road |
Why is he in idiot? Long stretch of highway with no other cars on the road... only one he's gonna kill is himself... IF anything went wrong. I'm impressed he stopped his car in 600 meters from that speed though and I think the police are the idiots for pulling their cars out on the road to block the path of a car you just clocked doing 250... Berz out. |
ya good thing he didnt try to run the roadblock why $10g why not just a $345 exceesive speed i mean it is excessive |

If no other cars were around what exactly is the big deal? If this guy was weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off and putting others at risk, then by all means throw the book at him. |

sorry dude, if you want to fly in your car at 250km/hr dont do it on a public road. you could be putting other ppl's lives at risk. it didnt say if there wasnt or wasnt anyone else on the road at the time. as a driver i'm not going to assume a road is empty and i doubt that he even cared if there was anyway. a police officer tagged him so there was at least 1 person in the general area at the time. |
ooh... omgosh.. 10k fine eh.. harsh. wonder what 250km/hr feels like. face would probably rip off. |
It depends what car you in honestly. Ive been 250 in a car that felt stable as hell and solid and I've been 250 in a car that had no buisiness doing 250 lol and it was scary. In a G35 it wouldn't feel any different than if you were doing 150. Berz out. |
lol. No one seems to be interested on my comment above... That radar jammar thingy :) In theory, if he got the V1, he wouldn't be charged with excessive speed... |
I know all about the V1 ;) Berz out. |
