Car dealer on hook for illegally armoured BMW An armour-plated Bacon beemer has been seized by Chilliwack RCMP. The extensively modified bulletproof black BMW 745i leased by the notorious Bacon brothers was found abandoned near Prest Road and Highway 1. The RCMP seized the Bacons’ beemer because the heavy steel plating and bulletproof glass made the car overweight and illegal to drive. “It was registered to the Bacons,” said Chilliwack RCMP Const. Angie Bowie. “It’s been taken off the road. “The plates are seized, and it’s gone back to the leasing company.” The Bacon brothers leased the high-end 2003 BMW — the equivalent 2009 750i lists for $104,900 plus taxes — from Coquitlam-based Four Star Auto Lease. From photos posted on the Internet, it’s unclear if the bulletproof glass and heavy steel plating were ever needed to save their bacon. “It was leased to Jonathan Bacon, with James Bacon listed as the principal operator,” said a Four Star Auto Lease employee who asked for anonymity. “It’s about $80,000 to $90,000 to convert it, and I think our president has talked to the Toronto outfit that fixed it,” said the employee. The problem now is that Four Star has an extensively modified vehicle that’s illegal in Canada. “I’m not sure exactly what we are going to do with it — we’re stuck with it,” said the worker. “We might be able to sell it to the Middle East or South America, where there’s a demand for these sorts of vehicles.” In the meantime, Four Star is pursuing legal avenues to recoup their losses. “The only thing we can do is try to get some money back,” said the worker. http://www.theprovince.com/Cars/story.html?id=1345972 |
WOW!! i wonder what the actual specs of the car were... |
this was already posted in at least one other thread |
|
how did the police figure out that it's armoured? |
Wow their trying to sue them? That's going to go over well |

crazy |
if they wanted to anything, they should just go sue the bacons for the cost of the vehicle, which i highly doubt they would because they are really good customers of coquitlams four star autolease. Plus four star is a bunch of idiot, you know how much a car like that would fetch in the states? more then what they were selling for, for sure |
How much does it actually weigh? |
probably 2.4 tons now i thought in europe BMW from the factory 760iL offers a bulletproof package or some shit like tat bacons anyone?? are they caught yet? |
How did the cops figure out it's armoured? Because when you open the door it feels like it weighs a million pounds, that's how. I think it's important to note that it's not actually illegal to armour plate the car. It is illegal to make it overweight. There is a maximum GVWR on the side of your door sill. You cannot exceed that, even if you modify the springs, etc etc. |
i'm confused from all this... they have all the bacon brothers under 24/7 surveillance don't they? they even have a camera on a light pole right across the street from one of their homes... how could they suddenly find this car "abandoned" by the side of the road? who left it there? |

Prest and Highway 1 is just a bunch of farms. Great they are coming to chilliwack now, thats about the only city in the lower mainland that havent been victim of the shootings. |
I wonder why they would abandon a car like that for? |

I don't think any of the bullet proof glass is DOT which fails no matter the weight. plus side windows require to be able to open / close by law. the owner of my company has a bullet proof SUV. But his lawyers are probbaly alot better then Bacons! |
There was also another vehicle, that was also equipped with armored protection probably by somebody else. In that case, the leasing company confiscating the Mercedes back. |
The windows of bulletproof cars usually goes down to about 4 inches, and this is only for the driver and the passenger side only. The rear windows are fixed. And they open hella slow. |
