Robin Williams To Undergo Heart Surgery

Robin Williams is set to undergo heart surgery for an aortic valve replacement, a spokesperson for the actor and comedian has confirmed.
Williams, 57, was in Florida on the latest leg of his Weapons of Self-Destruction stand-up comedy tour when he complained of shortness of breath.

His spokesperson Diane Rosen has not said when or where the surgery will be carried out. But the Miami Herald has reported that Williams is in hospital in Miami.

"I'm so touched by everyone's support and well wishes," Williams said in a statement.

"This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."

Williams is known for his manic comedy routine, steeped in wacky accents and improvisation.

He has been on a sold-out, 80-city comedy tour since September.

Williams won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role in the 1997 film Good Will Hunting.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for his roles in Good Morning Vietnam, The Fisher King and Dead Poets Society.

The actor's older brother, Robert Todd Williams, died of complications from heart surgery in 2007.

Have you seen 'Man of the year' ?
That movie doesn't know if it wants to be a comedy or a '24'-style action packed thriller. I seriously lost all liking for him after that movie. Hope he comes out safe though. But he should stop acting and whoever directed and produced that movie should be fired.

He has had a long battle with drug abuse and he was once quoted as saying "I snorted cocaine just hours before John Belushi overdosed".

During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Williams had a serious addiction to cocaine

his heart complications are probably a genetic trait.
hopefully the operation is a success. not only was/is he a talented, charismatic actor who definitely did his fair share of making an impact on screen; but also a very charitable human being
