Saw about 300 crows just gathering around Canada Way/Willingdon Ave. Just got back home from drop-in hockey. Drove along Canada Way, and right before the Willingdon Ave intersection, going westbound, at around 1:25am, I see like two blocks of crow. like A TON of them, just sitting around on the grass and sidewalk, even on the right lane into the traffic. Like wtf? There had to be at least like 300 crows there. Crow meet up?? There were so many, I would be scared to walk through that. Remind me of Gears of War or something... Is this weird behaviour for birds or what? I was driving, so I was unable to take pics. But with my camera phone, it would of just been all black anyway. Did anyone else drive by that area? |
Thats normal. All along Still Creek Dr. they gather... ...and wait.... ..............and wait. |
Only 300? There has been studies on this there are thousands that gather around there every day.. they fly in from all over the lower mainland and cover the rooftops and power lines for blocks on end. They don't know what causes them to gather but they always fly in around the same time. If you are around there and look up you will see a steady stream of Crow's flying in from all directions.... its fucking creepy. Berz out. |

Okay, well this is the first time I've actually seen them on the round up so massively on the ground, including in my way when I'm trying to drive. so yeah, this was quite a shock to me. I mean I've seen maybe 100 or so, but not like 300 +. |
this whole time i thought you meant COWS. fuck. that would've been funnier |
next time, have some rocks or a paint ball gun ready and do a drive by shooting. don't forget to bring your video camera. |
I swear there are like 30 threads about this =p Just don't walk around there and you're fine =p |
This has been going on for a while now. I'm sure it's more than 300. Everything's like covered around 4-7ish around there. Grass, rooftops, power lines, sidewalks. Scary stuff. =S Someone needs to eliminate them all. |
Ohh there are definitely more than 300 of them. They usually fly towards BCIT around 5-6PM. That area will just be covered with crows. Where do they all fuck off to after? Because they gather up there and just go somewhere else afterwards lol. |

Some of the buildings are trying different measures to keep them off. Some have owl statues on their rooftops. Last year or so the crows have seemed to become less and less. I use to light fire crackers and see them all fly away. One big giant black cloud. |
THIS IS SPARTA oh wait... |
they head to the north shore. after hanging out in vancouver during the day i guess definitely more than 300, more like 300,000 |
Sounds like the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." BTW if you haven't seen this movie it's pretty good even if it is 45 years old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvDpuIdY5WU |

Most of them end up along Still Creek like Los Bastardo mentioned. The Still Creek area use to be all low lands/swamp area where the crows use to live in the trees. But we came along and changed the area into bussiness industrial. |
